Perfect paint match for Brembo gold calipers!

1 Attachment(s)
Thought I should post this up as I've been searching for ages!

I've had Ebay Subaru gold caliper paint, Honda Inca Y61P and various others that honestly were not even close.

So I wandered into my local model shop as I know they sell lots of little pots and bought 4, tried them all and I've found a perfect match!!

Humbrol 54, Metallic Brass! :luxhello:

It's 100%, the pearl and everything is perfect and the best bit.... £3 a tin!

Some of this in the chips/scratches left to dry properly and maybe a little clearcoat on top and i think we have a winner!

Hope this is useful :thumb:

That's fantastic, thanks very much.

However, I think you've missed a trick.

Buy a load, put it into your own pots and sell it for £15.99 a tin plus p&p on eBay. You'll soon be rich!

I reckon this needs to go BTTT!

And after a bit of research, £2.69 a tin:

Bought before the rush and stockouts! Just like what happened to the Plastidip sprays!

Dare I suggest this topic might merit being made a sticky?

I got a second tin yesterday. It was just £1.75 from The Signal Box in Anstey, Leics.

This is a great find, I've been here myself and had the Honda paint which is near but not quite and ended up mixing two Honda paints together but that was still not quite there.

As suggested I'll make this a sticky thread :thumb:

Si :)

I've used this before, which I consider a very close match:

Plasti-kote Antique Gold.
It also enamel, so it may even be the same stuff, just different tin.

Osimabu 23 May 2013 03:30 PM

I've used the Plasti-kote too, but it's not as close as the Humbrol.

stevep360 23 May 2013 03:41 PM

Bought one.

Scott.T 23 May 2013 04:23 PM

Good find. I've been using Plati-Kote Antique gold, but the Humbrol stuff looks a better match

grey_boy 14 August 2013 02:27 PM

Amazon- I brought two Humbrol tins! Project clean up and touch up in progress. Thanks guys :thumb:

Osimabu 14 August 2013 02:50 PM

Great, please let us know how you get on with them.

(And for the benefit of my fellow pedants... BOUGHT! Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhh!)

Scott.T 23 August 2013 09:53 AM

Got the Humbrol and the colour is very different. The Plasti-Kote is alot closer.
Maybe it's just my tin of Humbrol but it is a very different colour.

Muzza80 23 August 2013 10:16 AM

You've either bought the wrong one or they've miss-labeled it, you can clearly see from my pics that the match is spot on.

What I will say is after a while actually on the car the touch ups stand out a wee bit, I think the heat may change it a little.

S3LDM 30 August 2013 01:10 PM

Megga...

Just order some thank you been looking for this for ages..https://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-happy088.gif

Fonzey 30 August 2013 05:44 PM

I got the humbrol one and it's nowhere near after it dries. Not sure if it's the heat cycles of a few drives.

jaygsi 30 August 2013 08:39 PM

Only one problem, its not heat resistant

Fonzey 14 October 2013 06:29 PM

My calipers look ridiculous now with this paint, looked far better with just a few scuffs on it :lol1:

Paben 17 August 2015 06:32 PM

This needs to be unstickied then doesn't it?

S3LDM 20 August 2015 09:12 PM

Same on mine dries a different colour

Back to the drawing board then :)

Darrell@Scoobyworx 23 August 2015 02:17 PM

spray tins of the same paint are better for painting calipers :)
