Turbo heat shield

Hi all,
Been trying to remove the heat shield from my turbo and its a right pig! Sprayed on wd40 before start, removed intercooler for extra access. Removed first bolt ok then the next 3 snapped off. Still got 2 to go but bolts
like butter and heads are rubbish. How you guys found the same problem? Might buy a jacket instead of metal shield perhaps
cheers

i did my 3 days ago should of taken no more than 20 mins to get heat shield off but took me more like 3 hours. 2 of my snap off and the rest were fine accept 1 whicn i had to use a hammer and chisel but it was the worst 1 to get to. if i was you i would just rip it off and buy a jacket or as i have done leave it with no heat shield. it was the hardest part of the job when i was fitting all of my upgrades. good luck

thanks for reply mate, finally got if off (similar time to you ;) )
The bolt nearest the brake servo was the worst :brickwall Had to hacksaw it and then get a long rod a smash it from the inside of the cover! it worked.
For now i'm going to use original cover just cut off the lower part until I get a jacket.
So Wrx will have on Sti Uppipe/down pipe and centre cat to delete to do wednesday, then map Friday with Duncan
cheers Phil

Thats unlucky bud about the gaskets. Which ones failed?
I must amit all mine are oem subaru ones (cost about 90 quid?). So hopefully ok. Mind you the downpipe to centre cat, gasket looks very thin walled so not much room for error.
