Get it back ASAP, classics are the best!

riiidaa 05 April 2013 07:20 PM

135k is a lot of miles, do yuo now the current owner of it well?

harrisard 05 April 2013 07:21 PM

A Newage wrx will feel slow and lardy compared to a 270hp classic!!!!

Harri

djr 05 April 2013 07:24 PM

My personal fav is the blob eye but each to their own

lofty35 05 April 2013 07:25 PM

ive been chatting to the current owner a bit over the last couple of weeks, he likes it but i think he might let it go for £3200. He bought it off the guy i swapped it with.

beef-on-the-bone 05 April 2013 07:35 PM

who cares what you pay??

if you want it, get it, it's to make you happy :) obviously a bit of attachment to it if you miss it already, if you do decide it's not for you (again) get rid (again!)

RICHARD J 05 April 2013 07:47 PM

Some cars are not replaceable, I'll never sell my V3STI as nothing Iv driven inspires me enough to spend the extra cash. If you feel that way about the car then get it back, but hope that the present owner hasn't seen this thread or the price may go up.

lofty35 05 April 2013 07:52 PM

lol ye hope he dont see the thread, can u delete threads ?
i put a lot of work getting it like that, spent a bit aswell, had it for 15 months and regretted it after a week of letting her go.
will deffo try getting it back then.

No. I know someone that could lock it and sticky it though. :lol1:

The only problem I see, is that you don't know how it's been treat in the time you haven't had it.

lofty35 05 April 2013 08:07 PM

true spose thats a gamble i have to take

neilwrx 05 April 2013 08:25 PM

do it! i just missed out the chance of buying mine back:(bloke put it on fleabay then befor i knew it it had sold within 1 day, gutted.

gpssti4 05 April 2013 08:36 PM

If it's worth it to you then yes, buy it. However, you'd probably buy a 'better' car for that money.

4evernewbie 05 April 2013 10:46 PM

I recently paid a LOT more than that for a classic - couldn't be happier :thumb:
135k is high though, somebody said these engines go pop.....
Paul.

winston69 05 April 2013 10:57 PM

Buy mine, it's only got 67k

;)

Orangio 05 April 2013 11:53 PM

How much did you sell it for?

blackvenom 06 April 2013 12:10 AM

I think I would miss mine but then again you can get a better classic for that I'm sure if you shop about. My classic looks just like that with only 70k,

G4rfo 06 April 2013 12:11 AM

yes u r mad :P

stedee 06 April 2013 01:35 AM

i paid 3300 for a v4 sti ra with some expensive goodies a while ago now mind, would i sell her no chance. it had done 70k and hadnt missed a beat till i started messing

ditchmyster 06 April 2013 06:44 AM

Add another grand and get a Bug STI, then spend the summer cleaning it up, much better all round car.

Can look ok with some tasteful mods.

Or better still buy an STI Type r much better place to put your money.

scoobyman223 06 April 2013 06:52 AM

Do what you feel is right for you bud..i'm in the process of buying my old blob STI back from scoobydog who got from me through API 4 years ago :(..i regreted it from day one although i had a couple of fab cars in between including a 993 but if im honest none of them made me grin like my old scoob so here she comes back home with me next weekend and a nice trip from Rugby to Cornwall to collect her :) cant wait .....:thumb::thumb:

lordharding 06 April 2013 07:05 AM

I think for £3200 it is a bit pricey for it with the high mileage
I would offer him £2700 amd leave your phone number
Get a couple of your mates to look at it and offer £2000-£2300 then he will soon ring you back to do the deal

lofty35 06 April 2013 07:21 AM

good thinking lordharding think thats what i will do, but i doubt he will take £2700 as he paid £2500 and he loves it. But ive been looking for a mint classic for a few weeks now and they all have some kind of bubbling or rust on rear arches apart from my old one and winstons on here. If i buy another classic its gonna cost me cash to get it to my old ones standard. Cant really afford a bug sti cheapest i seen was £4000. Could just get a bug wrx and mod it up. mmmm ??? decisions hey ?

lordharding 06 April 2013 07:33 AM

Bug eye wrx over a classic is a thread which would be debated over several pages
And the classic would win everything
Nearly every classic in the country is now rusting at the arches
Even mine after 13 years living in its garage and polished constantly
The imported ones seem to be a bit better at keeping the rust away though
I agree the last thing you want is too buy another classic then spend cash on it
If we paid £2500 he should not really be expecting to get back what he paid for it unless he lives in cookoo land so £2500 is the price to pay for it
Gave as many mates you know a tenner or some beer money to beat him down in price

lofty35 06 April 2013 08:28 AM

lordharding - the guy lives in aberdeen and i live in leicester so cant really get anyone to go up there and offer him money for the car, also its not advertised as hes only had it 3 weeks.

ace1981 06 April 2013 10:24 AM

Depends what you think it's worth.

Although you shouldn't really pay more than the price you sold it for.

If you buy another car, you have to check it out, ensure it's mechanically and physically sound, then buy all your extras and mods again just to get it the way you want it.

I think deep down, you seem to want this car back - because you know its history (last four months aside) and you want something that you know is just how you want it, straight out of the box, as it were. You also have the advantage of knowing how much you sold it for.

If he refuses to budge on price, he probably doesn't want to let the car go, at least not without making a quick pound - which he won't manage.

CREWJ 06 April 2013 10:47 AM

If I'm honest I'd never pay that much for it.

lofty35 06 April 2013 11:13 AM

i know its a lot of money but if im to buy another classic say £1500 id have to put in another £1500 to get it like that, ie respray/wheels/lowering springs/remap/gauges ect

CREWJ 06 April 2013 11:19 AM

Yes but mods do not increase the value of a car. There are others out there cheaper with the same if not better spec.

RUDDY 06 April 2013 11:28 AM

Hi mate, i would consider getting a classic sti at that sort of money! It will be more powerful standard and you will have a car worth holding on to? Maybe look at a few and see if you still want your old one back? I don't think you would find a newer classic though. And it does look nice! I'm sure 3 grand would find a nice white sti v3/4
