Metal plate on key, alarm code?

About to collect an Sti and from the test drive the car had 2 remotes and a metal plate which has a 5 digit code.

Is this the code for the alarm panel?

From another post https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ode-issue.html I read that you can reset the code if the one on the plate is incorrect or was changed by the previous owner?

Also read that there should be a key code on a plate with the keys? Is that correct and what is the impact if I did not have this? Can a dealer program keys and cut keys?

Regards.

What kind of alarm, my sigma is 4 digits

No mate its not an alarm code. It's the code you'd need to have another key made

Crap, so what should do about the alarm code, do i follow the reset procedure or do i ring the main dealer for the code. Can you mess up the reset procedure and lock the keypad, what i don't know the code?

My code came with all my paperwork. It's on a couple of stickers in with the service book an other paperwork. Not sure how you'd go about getting a new code if its not there though

Thanks i think i will double check the paperwork when i collect the car. Anyone else reset their code when they didn't have the original code?

ok thanks, i may check with dealer once i have the car. Did they charge you for code? Also what happens if the previous owner changed the code? Does the reset procedure work if you don't have the original code?

There is a process to reset the code even if you do not have the original.
Done on mine, simple 5 min job and done.
The code is only if your remote fails and you enter the car manually and type the code in to disable the alarm.

Google the Sigmaalarm codes and you can find this quite easily.

Note: the car alarm has to be off and car unlocked with key in the ignition. For the code rest to work.
It's all in the instructions.
