ARBs: 22mm front/24mm rear or just 22mm rear?

Hi

I have a uk (non ppp) bug sti with standard suspension which i have owned for a couple of years.....with the usual power mods to bring it up to around 330bhp. I am currently thinking about uprating the anti-roll bar(s) as after doing some reading it seems it is very worthwhile.

My question is: is there much to be gained by going for a 22mm front and 24mm rear ARB as opposed to just fitting a 22mm rear and leaving the front as standard? (whatever I go for I will get adjustable ones).

From looking through some old threads, I gather that both offer decent improvement over standard. To me, the advantage with just buying a 22mm rear is that it will be half the price and changing the rear sounds simple enough for me to do myself whereas the front looks a bit more tricky. Will this offer nearly as much as a 22 front and 24 rear or would it be more worth my while to go the whole hog? What do people recommend from experience for a newage?

Cheers

RCM did 24-24 on my wrx and that seems to dive very well

Both options as you say will give nice improvement over stock. Depends on what the car's mainly going to be used for - B-road thrashing, or mainly town with the odd drive out.

Personally, I like std suspension 'long travel' and decent roll resistance. That gives good control in the rougher stuff (typical badly kept UK road).

A 22 rear only on middle setting would work fine, as would a 22 front and 24 rear

For a daily driver, I would probably go 22 rear

I used to preach that the rear ARB was the best value mod on my car ( 2002 STI ).

If you may track it do both, for a road car 22 or 24 rear is a great mod.

Cheers for the comments, yeah I think I am leaning towards just going for a 22mm adjustable rear and steel droplinks for now as it does sound as though it offers most of the benefit.

It's used mainly on the road for play and also the occasional B road commute so I wouldn't want to make it too skittish over rough/bumpy surfaces. I bought the car in the first place with an eye on using it for track days but in reality, at the moment I do them nowhere near as often as I would like! ...and I suppose with a 22mm adjustable rear it can be flipped onto the tightest setting on track.

Watch the prices, if a 24 adjustable is a similar price get one, and use the middle setting, otherwise a cheaper (?) 22mm adjustable bar is fine for road use, IMHO.

Hold yer foot up Dunx ;)

24mm rear with standard front ARB can make for a tail happy car if rear wheel drive bias like an Sti.
