insurance for a 20 year old

Hello all, i am looking into buying a subaru impreza sti and was wondering wether i can get insurance for under £2k i currently have 3 years no claims and own a ford focus rs mk2 with the mp350 mod kit. I love the car but payments for the car are too great.

MattyB1983 28 February 2013 02:51 PM

Not a chance.

TonyBurns 28 February 2013 02:52 PM

Welcome :)

Tbh with you, most insurers wont insure any under 25 on an STI :( though a wrx may be an option, you can try the insurance section but I doubt you will have any luck due to your age :(

Tony:)

focusrs350 28 February 2013 02:52 PM

Really as i pay £1300 for my 350bhp rs

salsa-king 28 February 2013 02:55 PM

give Keith Micheals a ring, if they can't get you the best price don't bother ringing anyone else.

With everything declared ???

Fonzey 28 February 2013 03:02 PM

I think I remember Gary @ KM telling me they can't/won't insure under 25's.

I think you'll struggle :(

I doubt he'd get insured if mod's were declared being under 25

Ash170990 28 February 2013 03:15 PM

mp350 is seen as another car buy insurers seen as standard =/

Im 22 and got insured on the scoob for £700 fully comp with mods declaired (not alot anyway, just suspension and ARB's) where as my old FRS only had exhaust and air filter and was 900 so you may be able to... worth a ring around.... im with admiral so maybe worth trying them.....

If it fails buy a mk1 FRS ;) better drivers car than the mk2....

mnem1c 28 February 2013 03:19 PM

I was 27 when i bought my first Impreza. £1500 on a WRX Import. If i was you go for a UK spec. Good luck

stonejedi 28 February 2013 03:25 PM

It will be hard to get yourself insurance at 20 on a sti but if you can it won't be cheap you can trust me on that.SJ.

Dan- 28 February 2013 03:47 PM

The RS seems a very cheap car In comparison to an Sti as at 20 I concidered one as insurance was doable at £1500 but I couldn't get touched on an sti till 21 hence why I waited :)

ad uk 28 February 2013 05:11 PM

May struggle with age Keith Michaels have to be 25 I can't wait I'm 25 this year with 7 ncb and I've had the car 2 years insured so hopefully this year will go down abit :)

DrDiesel 28 February 2013 05:28 PM

I had sti when I was 20, but it wasn't the automotive variety.
Them were the days....

Jacko4130 28 February 2013 06:48 PM

I tried at 24 to get insured on a blob STI but the told me to call back in a few years, Cant remember who it was i asked but there was no chance.

Truss 28 February 2013 06:51 PM

I got mine at 22. £1200. However at 20, cant see it being below the £2k mark.

Lukesaunders91 28 February 2013 06:57 PM

Wait till you hit 21 mate only real way of getting it where your not spending so much on insurance.

Im 21 and have a 2005 STI and pay 1k

Busterbulldog 28 February 2013 06:57 PM

Area code:thumb: i live impn such a quiet place that if someone farts it makes the local papers! Ive always been lucky with insurance, first car i paid £1400 2 days after passing my test for a mk1 focus RS....

Pramas 01 March 2013 12:26 AM

considering i did 1300 miles last year and its pretty much permanently locked in a private garage, id still expect more, however u play the hand ur dealt and that was the best i found

Who's your insurance with, I'm 30 , six years no claims and it costs me 1600, 06 hawk sti spec d .

Osimabu 01 March 2013 06:53 AM

That might be your postcode, but you can try Keith Michaels, Sky, Greenlight and A-Plan.

TonyBurns 01 March 2013 09:47 AM

You live in Accrington Ste, thats why it costs you more :p considering im about 5 miles from you and paying 600 quid fully comp protected on my spec c, you need to shop around (but i am older than you ;))

Sorry, whilst I rate KM, that statement is ridiculous.
