Classic rear drive shaft differances

Did rear drive shafts change with version models on the classic?

Changed my gear box on my 1995 WRX wagon last weekend from a TY752 to a TY754 with matching rear diff as new box is a uk spec. But I can't get my off side rear drive shaft back in, the near side popped straight in. I thought it might pop back in once come off the axle stand but no joy.

So do i have to buy a matching drive shaft? or drop my diff again, get the shaft back in then rebuild?

Thamx in advance

i didnt measure them, but i didnt notice any differance. Car's a version 2 if that helps. the off side shaft does seem too long though, the splines on the shaft are in the diff housing but arent engaged to anything

as far as i remember the shafts are sided , its been a while since i was near one but i think the Off side should be slightly longer ,

is it possible you have them in the wrong way round ?

Actually with a bit of searching i found this

So basically you can have any one of numerous setups, what i was referring to above was my own experience with a 95WRX ra, so the diff was likely different to your anyway if its a UK spec car.
