93 jdm impreza wrx windscreen
Hi folks,
I am looking for a front windscreen for my classic impreza wrx. Its a 4 door. Needs to be good enough to pass MOT. Based in Bingley, West Yorkshire. Happy to collect with cash. Car is currently used as a track car but looking to put her on the road. Looking forward to removing the existing one:wonder: |
you can buy the tools to remove the windscreen cheap on ebay mate as for a replacement screen try matty at pole position or scott at Scooby spares they will sort you out both good guys to deal with
|
nice one bud,
will look into getting something for removal. do you know what they stick the screen with? Will drop these boys a pm with regards to screen. cheers for your help.:) |
I used tiger seal when I did the rear screen on the wifes saxo sticks like sh1t to a blanket lol
|
sounds like a tube of that will be getting ordered. Put the word out to a couple of motors getting broken local to me on eBay. The guys you suggested are a bit far and it might be a gamble leaving the fate of my windscreen in the hands of the couriers. Thanks for your help.:thumb:

I do have a screen in the car i'm breaking & have the tools to remove but would depend on what you want to pay for it? Also would you be willing to collect as i wouldn't fancy risking transportation of it?

hi bud,
I have subscribed to your project thread. very interesting scenes there sir:) I have something similar in the pipeline. looking forward to see how you get on. I saw your special wire thing for cheese wire windscreen removal tool. Looks like that could be fun. I'm grateful for the offer, but am a 3 hour drive from Oxfordshire so a little too far for me. Have you taken it out yet? Just wondered if had any tips on how best to do so? where to start? removal of old adhesive etc.? |
ive got a screen . 5 bucks plus postage , but really why u not getting it done throu u insurance , cheap as hell free fitting and no worries .
|
I currently use the car as a track day motor. Currently off the road and uninsured. The damage happened last time I was at Oulton Park. I have decided to put the car back on road so need a replacement. As for claiming off the insurance, not currently insured, the insurance company state it does not effect your no claims bonus (with them), they are more than happy to tell your next insurance company you have claimed if you do not renew with them. sneaky buggers, So be careful.

A little tip, you can do it on your own like i did but it would be much easier with a mate to help - One inside, one outside & pull it back and forth like a saw between you. Also wear gloves & don't touch the wire during or after use as it gets very hot! |
cheers super_ted.
Could be tomorrows task. Thanks for your advise. Can see me n our lad having a set too with that. I have sourced a windscreen locally. 40 bills but it needs removing. Cannot argue with that. Did you need to get any product for removing old bond off, or is it lashings of more of the same? |
Once you have the screen out, i just used a very sharp stanley blade held flat, to remove old sealer.
|
got the screen out. two man job with 10 metres of wire from the welder. removed the sealant with a sharpened scraper. How did you get on with the wire you bought off ebay? Did it last the job. Will buy one of those wires if it did the job? I have another to remove to replace mine.:)
|
Yeah it worked well mate.
|
have you managed to source a replacement rubber seal which runs across the top of the screen? having a bit of bother finding one????
|
Not got round to fitting a screen back in yet mate. Have you tried your local dealer?
