I haven't driven the new one but the older one was great. The styling of the new one looks nice as well!

However, get ready for the 'don't buy it because its French' brigade!

craigyp 12 February 2013 12:14 PM

lol. I know what tour saying saints..... before I had scoobs 7 years ago I had a clio 182 and loved it...

We're have before Megane 225,awesome car with nice features, great interior, handling is great(on wet you will spin on first 3 gears),but that's it.

If you are looking to modify, you will spend lot more than on Subaru, engine is good up to 320bhp(270lbft torque I wouldn't exceed on those rods),turbo choices and other bits are more expensive than on Subaru, don't expect saving on fuel or etc.,they're so similar to the Impreza

Electric can be the issue on the Megane,we are have few the problems with electric, suspension is good and with right mods is great

says ktech can get 300 and 320 lb torque for 1700

i had the R26 ....loved it fast ..stuck to the road ..
then i had the 250 cup ......hated it .. not very quick considering its 250bhp
slightest bit of damp couldnt stop it from wheel spinning .horrible driving position
had the full leather seats ...very uncomftable ..only kept it 12 months then swopped it for the new scooby ..love driving again ....

toon71 12 February 2013 02:37 PM

also the 250 is very twitchy round bends never felt safe where as the R26 just withstood everything you threw at it ...

craigyp 12 February 2013 02:58 PM

I thought with the cup pack they where brill round the twists. ..

weirdfish 12 February 2013 03:15 PM

All i will say is, be very careful about buying one of these, they have paper thin paint, unfinished on some of the panel returns. We had ours only a matter of months before getting rid of it, every time we took it out we came back with another couple of stone chips.
And of course the resale is ****e, but apart from that quite nice.

R26 always felt planted as the scooby does but the 250 always felt like it was gonna go at anytime .....

Dan- 12 February 2013 03:41 PM

They are very nice motors, I test drove 1 of them aswell as a mk2 focus RS before buying my scoob and it had a very nice feel to it!

jura11 12 February 2013 03:41 PM

R26 is different league, tried only once, but for those money you can have nice EVO,which is in different league from R26 or RS250

K-Tec yes they're best and really for price what you will be paying them for those upgrades, you can have lot more music on other cars

Quite like the look of these RS 250 myself, look quite nice and im sure they put one against the new Focus RS on Fifth Gear and the Megane was faster round the track. There seems to be a few for sale now below the 15k mark on pistonheads!!!

I like them, chassis is based on the Focus ST. 250BHP and front wheel drive, could be a handful in the wet.

Less common than the ST too. :thumb:

dont do enough miles to warrent a diesel mate.. plus I prefer power delivery of petrol

jura11 13 February 2013 10:26 AM

For 13k you should have nice EVO 8 or 9 and still some money you will have on future mods and will be cheaper to mod EVO than RS250

Mazda MPS is what I really like

Nice car I looked at one when the new model came out, instead got a Clio. It was a 200 Cup and a cracking car but unfortunately the Renaults do get tatty quickly, the build quality is awful. I also got through the brakes faster than I got through the front tyres and I'm not the kind of driver who is hard on the brakes all the time.

As a drivers' car it is among the best currently available but you'd probably long for the out and out punch of a Scooby or Evo after a while.

craigyp 13 February 2013 01:00 PM

I feel like I want some extra luxuries. ie bluetooth. keyless entry. something abit quieter. .....
id have a hatch but the 2.5 puts me off with its problems. ....
