Hawkeye STi 2.5 - Burning oil and oil in coolant

My car is obviously poorly. Been using more and more oil lately and I notice it has contaminated the coolant too. What might this be?

It still pulls hard. But I'm assuming I'll need some kind of rebuild. What do I need to have done to make a 2.5 reliable at around 350bhp?

Thanks

Sounds like the headgaskets have gone. A compression check should determine this.

It could also be ringland damage.

Both will require the engine coming out and if it is just the gaskets, then I would recommend doing the pistons at the same time in case they have gone or about to go.

Gaskets could be anywhere between £600 and £1000 to do.

Pistons will be that plus the cost of the pistons of around £400 to £500 plus additional labor and possibly a re-hone or if done high mileage, a re-bore but some don't recommend this on a 2.5.

Same symptoms as my 2.5.
It was head gasket so updated a few bits like already mentioned & also pinned the block.

Thanks. Excuse my ignorance but what does "pinned the block" mean?

Do a google search on 'pinning Subaru block' and there are a few photos to look at :)

Hope that helps :)
