Has anyone got a sound clip of the above.

Plantie 15 May 2002 08:25 PM

The microphone couldn't capture it.... toooooo loud :D :D :D

Vinesh 15 May 2002 09:25 PM

Plantie- Is it really that loud. :):):)

Someone must have it on their harddrive.

Plantie 15 May 2002 09:37 PM

I have had a Nur Spec R system with Standard Scoobysport Downpipe on my first WRX and that was indeed very loud. I now have the system on my STI2 mated to a full 3" through Scoobysport Downpipe and it is unbearably loud, I would hazard a guess at about 30-40 percent louder than the original Nur/SS setup :eek:. Let's put it this way. When I picked her up from PE a few weeks ago. Mervyn the Rolling Road don there, who had been tuning her on the RR was having a perfectly polite conversation with me and then said 'That exhaust system is F***ing loud!'
I wasn't even vaguely prepared when I fired her up

I haven't got a sound clip but if you want loud, then you will be chuffed to bits with the Blitz! The only downside is that the baffle looks completely gay IMO. But I never use it anyway :)

Cheers,

Nick :)

By the looks of it the Blitz is going to be my next purchase. :)

On the Blitz exhaust, can u attach the std CAT in the centre when the MOT is due? Bearing in mind the DP will be cahnged to the SS item. :)

Mr Footlong 15 May 2002 10:29 PM

AFAIK the answer is no to that. The R system supposedly uses a different length mid and rear box piping to the usual manufacturers. I was told this a couple of times by people and Racelogic too if memory serves.

Vinesh 15 May 2002 10:42 PM

What happens when the MOT is due?

Mr Footlong 15 May 2002 10:44 PM

you fit your standard mid and rear back on. You will still be lucky to pass with just the centre cat, but the usual things apply: Get the exhaust nice and hot befor MOTing, as in give it a damn long run.....

Vinesh 15 May 2002 10:54 PM

Yeah I can do that.

Someone must have a sound clip.

I just want to compare the Blitz against the HKS :)

Jamie Whitfield 15 May 2002 11:39 PM

If you attach your standard exhaust system from the DP back you will pass no problems.

The blitz and HKS has a 3" diameter, correct me if i'm wrong, so the DP will have to be 3". The Std exhaust on the scooby is 2.5"?

So, the std exhaust will not fit on to the 3" DP. My exhaust has no centre CAT, only a resonator thing in the middle.

When the MOT is due, I will have to source a centre CAT in order to pass the MOT.

Jamie Whitfield 15 May 2002 11:52 PM

The Blitz does have a 3" bore, but the flange matches the standard DP as would a Scoobysport or HKS DP. These are available in 3" form for maximum airflow/noise!

Speak to you soon.

Guys

Sorry for hijacking your post but I thought the HKS Hiper is the loudest? I remember someone saying on this board that the hotter the Blitz Nur Spec R gets the quieter it sounds. There's a sound file for the HKS though - it's in www.scoobyworld.co.uk
I think.

I'm also after a loud exhaust but still undecided between Blitz and HKS.

Cheers

Gordon

Certainly in the Evo world the Blitz is *alot* louder than the Hyper.I`ve heard a Hioper on the Scoob and t.b.h was pretty disapointed at the sound.

Rich :)

Mr Footlong 16 May 2002 07:45 AM

I was just about to say the same thing about hearing a Hiper....:)

peccy 16 May 2002 08:30 AM

had my Blitz NurSpec R a week now and not stopped smiling, took me a few week to figure out which system to get (Magnex/HKS/Blitz etc) but reckon i got the best on the Blitz, especially sound wise.

IMHO it gets LOUDER! when hot. i was going to get the HKS Hiper when the group buy was on, but then heard a bloke drive past with a Blitz system on and it was much nicer and louder sounding then the HKS systems id heard.

i will try record it, if you want a listen sooner then give me your number and ill phone you and give it a blast later on :)

ptholt 16 May 2002 08:38 AM

I've had both the hiper and the blitz and have the following observations.

hiper -
definately quieter.
NOT stainless steel, some strange collection of materials.Mid section is painted in some strange silver smoothrite stuff.
Almost totally straight, as a result comes out at an angle.

blitz -
MUCH LOUDER, not just during acceleration, but creates a vast amount of noise on the overrun when you lift off.
does get irratating on long motorway journeys as it does 'boom' inside the car.
Proper stainless steel.
Has a turn in it just behind the 'cough' back box (not really a box more a wider piece of zorst) which does make me wonder if its as efficient as the hks in getting the gasses out, though i havent dynod the car to see if this is the case.
Due to the turn, exits the car straight.

Plantie 16 May 2002 08:42 AM

Gordon... that is not the case... The Blitz is quite a bit louder than the Hiper.... The Hiper - supposedly gives you slightly more power according to Subaru Members yet the EVO and Supra crowd say the opposite  but the difference will be marginal and I love the noise the Blitz makes... plus the quality is a lot higher and in my opinion looks better!

The Hiper is mild steel with a special coating and the Blitz is Pure Stainless Steel! :D

I am lucky... I have understanding neighbours! :D :p ;)

EvoRSX 16 May 2002 08:55 AM

PLantie,
On the Evo, The Hiper follows the standard route of the exhaust more or less whereas the Blitz runs very very straight from the cat back. That's why you get a better power increase with the Blitz on an Evo. Looking at ptholts post above says that this is the other way around on the scoobies so the Hiper is straighter and will therefore give a slightly better power increase.

BTW, I've got a Hiper on the Evo and it's relatively quiet around town and cruising but roars when you open it up :D The Blitz on an Evo is a lot lot louder all of the time and can cause headaches if you do a lot of motorway driving alledgedly ;)

Peccy,

Any chance u can record the Blitz? I have had one soundclip, but it's a drive by one. I want clip where the car is at a stand still.

Much appreciated if u can mail a clip.

Vinny :)

peccy 16 May 2002 11:33 AM

Vinesh,

ill have a go tommorow, my mates got a digital camcorder with sound, a recording really doesnt do the sound justice though, you cant hear the low bass burble sound the blitz gives, email me your tel no. and ill give you a call tonight or tommorow and give it a rev / idle etc.

Gordon Shek 16 May 2002 12:41 PM

Okay guys suppose I'm wrong. But I'm glad I'm wrong as a Blitz exhaust is next on my shopping list. I've got a SS exhaust at the moment but it's not loud enough for me :(.

If someone can get a sound clip, I would like to hear it too.

Cheers

Gordon
