Mine has been off the road since march. I have some probs with the battery. Invest in a battery charger

Why dont you just charge the battery with a battery charger if it still happens after that then look at replacing the battery..

Jacko4130 22 January 2013 08:52 PM

In this weather just invest in a new Bosch battery

try a charger first, similar happened to mine last year. it's been fine ever since

This cold weather has given me flat battery problems (completely flat after only 2-3 days non use) even though the battery is only 12 months old.

Had the battery tested and thats fine (90%), had the car tested and can't find any significant drain, was just told ''I'm not using the car enough'', so as others have previously mentioned I've also had to invest in a charger.

Using a charger isn't my idea of a solution to the problem, I don't use the car any more or any less than any previous cars I've owned so I don't know why the battery is proving to be so unreliable. (and before anyone mentions the notorious ''smartcharge'' system yes I am aware of it and so do always drive with sidelights on!)

you want a battery conditioner, Lidl are selling a brilliant one for £13

Varta would be a better option

Oxford maximiser 3800 ics a good charger/conditioner.

Varta and Bosch share the same UK address ! I've had at least 5 or 6 batteries on my WRX including 2 Optima Redtops. Currently using an Exide from Euro Car Parts over the Bosch as the CCA is higher, so is the cost slightly. I use a battery conditioner if going away or not using the car for more than 3 days.
ECP have discount codes, I think ALL20 is giving 20% off at the moment.

il go have a look around tomorrow might be worth getting something new in place

Bosch S4 of S5 would be my recommendation. I bought my wrx over 3 years ago with a halfords HCB005 fitted and finally died today in the middle of a carpark, headed straight round to the local motorfactors where I get my fluids and discs etc. They fitted an S5 for me there and then as I had no tools with me and immediately the car fires up so much easier. at 60 quid its probably not the cheapest out there but comes with a 5 year warranty.

Bosch S5 here!!
