advice please!
 

Hi guys been starting my scooby 04 blob wrx the last few mornings and its had a slight knocking noise, but when its warmed up it seems to go, but does have a ticking noise when idling, rev the car and it sounds normal no bad noise's do you think it could need a oil change was last done 1000 miles ago any advice would be great full :)

Have you checked the oil? See if it's losing any.
Shouldn't need a change after only 1000 miles

yeah mate oil level seems ok will keep checking next couple of mornings, its not a load knock but you can hear it but once its warm it goes just a little puzzled as you say should nt need done after a 1000 miles:confused:

Bit of piston slap due to the colder weather or even a cambelt tensioner 'knock'.

Cold weather brings bad noises to my car too I'm afraid :( lol

mick do you know how i would check the cam tensioner thanks

lol hope it is just the weather, start of a new year just trying to get finances back on track could do with out any problems lol

As mick said above but what oil was used when you got it changed?

not sure jdc, only had the car a couple of months, service was done before i bought it think i will change the oil just to be safe, any recomendations thanks

Sounds like its just tapping until oil gets around and up to temperature, ive had similar noises from some older subarus. Just allow it to warm properly before reving or moving it especially in this cold weather

Mine is terrible in the cold scares me starting it up, It is forged tho. Come summer time start up is quiet
