Pretty good. The Eastern European/Russian one that had the guys on the floor was impressive.

Less impressive was the constant girly screams of the Americans.......

nik52wrx 17 January 2013 08:20 PM

Amazing flying :thumb:

DYK 17 January 2013 08:21 PM

Americans never get it low enough...

It's Ray Hanna in the other one too. A great pilot and a very nice chap with a wicked sense of humour. Sadly no longer with us. :(

A friend of mine was in the control tower/Race Control that you can see and he was looking down at the plane!!

g7prs 18 January 2013 02:40 PM

Not as low as this one :D

Leslie 18 January 2013 02:50 PM

Not all that much to make a fuss about. That kind of low flying is easy to do.

You have to work a bit harder at it if you are inverted though!

Les ;)

I met him a few times because I went to school with his son - also sadly no longer with us.

It does not look so horrifying from inside the cockpit and it is also not all that difficult to do. You do have to pay attention to what you are doing though, maximum concentration required.

This is what it's like inside the planes.
Imagine the skill of the pilots, I love the lighthouse fly-by :)

Leslie 22 January 2013 03:33 PM

It was all good fun of course, but the lighthouse keepers used to feel a bit uneasy about it, depending how close you were to the lighthouse as you might imagine.

One of the little tricks during a flying display was to make a low approach with the wheels about a foot off the runway, then raise the wheels maintaining level flight. Once the wheels were up you allowed the aircraft to sink by about 3 feet. That used to make everyone suck their teeth!
