I am going to ditch my exhust on my PPP car and replace it with a HKS Hyper and replace the OEM downpipe to a S/S Downpipe.

With a PPP car, the centre CAT is removed. As the downpipe will be changed, all the CAT's will be removed, so it will fail the MOT.

So when the MOT is due will I be able to put a centre CAT back on the HKS exhaust? (Borrow the centre CAT from someone) OR

Will I need to pt the OEM downpipe back on? & Is it a long job putting the OEM downpipe back on?

Finally what is a resinoator? Will I be able to put this on the HKS exhast when the MOT is due.

Sorry for all the questions.

Vinesh,

Are we talking <MY00 or the new shape?

A lot of people have successfully passed an MOT with just the centre cat. This is a 15min job to swap around once the car's on axle stands.

Changing the Downpipe is time consuming, so your easiest method is to keep a std centre around for MOT.

I can't remember if it's the HKS or Blitz (I think it' the Blitz Nur R spec), but one only comes as a full kit (backbox and centre). They're not std replacements, so need to be paired together.

If you can buy (from new) the HKS centre or backbox seperately, then it should fit any other std size downipe, backbox or centre on their own.

Stefan -

MY99 car.

I dont have a centre CAT, only a resionator. If I put the resionator back on will it help me pass the MOT?

The HKS Hiper takes a different route out of the car, compared to the standard exhaust system.

The standard mid-section will not fit the HKS Hiper system.

You will need to get hold of a catted centre section and a standard backbox to pass your MOT!
