iPhone 5 and driving apps

Hi

I've used an iPhone 4 for the last couple of years and currently assessing a Samsung S3 to help me decide whether I go for the iPhone 5 or the S3 and apart from some areas, I prefer the iPhone to use and so may be willing to pay a premium for a larger memory even though it hurts.

One of the positives of the S3 is that driving apps seem to be properly multi-tasking. Specifically, I’m referring to Daily Roads Voyager (not available for iPhone), Camera Alert and maps. Ie both Daily Roads Voyager and Camera Alert can operate properly in the background whilst giving good, clear information.

On my iPhone 4, I use Witness Driver and Camera Alert but the Camera Alert, whilst working in the background, is less visible with its warnings. Also, Witness Driver did not work in the background at all and so whenever I wanted to check traffic on Maps, for eg Witness Driver would turn off.

I haven’t progressed to using SatNav on my phone yet owing to lack of true multi-tasking but that will also need to work in harmony.

So, my question to you is, is anyone using the iPhone 5 successfully with these, or similar apps together as I’m not sure whether this is an app design issue or operating system issue?

Finally, I would prefer it if we didn't get into the iPhone/Other phones arguments as I know most of it is personal opinion and what you are used to.

Cheers
