help with alarm/immobilser issue please

I have just purchased my first impreza a 200 wrx uk i think!
I have a key with a lock and unlock button, also a blue and black subaru fob.The only way that i can start my car is to put the key to stage one key in the 4 digit code then key it in again and then start!!!
The previous owner said that this was correct but im sure its not! Also i have a metal lock in the side of the tunnel inside the passenger compartment?any ideas on either of these would be appreciated!:D

Sounds like you have a sigma alarm fitted. Do you have a keypad to the right of the steering wheel built into the coin tray? I so and you obviously know the code then you can reprogram the fob. As long as the fob works lol. Does the fob light up?

Yes i have the keypad on the right, subaru thingy lights up wheb pressed and the main key buttons lock and un lock the car fine, i will try and find the programming thread on here. Thanks!

strange that the standard fob works too, if that opens the doors it should knock the imobiliser off too, are you getting in and starting the car within 30 seconds of opening it?

Flyingfitter 14 January 2013 05:53 PM

yeah every time within 30 seconds ! Confused

it should have a cat1 alarm see, that immobilises itself after 30 seconds and you have to put ignition on and press alarm fob again to disarm immobiliser

Thanks for the info i will have a play tomorrow when i have the car with me, cant understand why everything lights up but wont work without the keycode being entered.

J44CE 14 January 2013 06:03 PM

yes thats how they work bud, it immobilises the starter and fuel pump circuit i think. you get all dash lights on still with ignition

Flyingfitter 14 January 2013 06:34 PM

I get all lights on but not fuel pump until I put key code in.

Solved!!

Just a quick update in case anybody has the same issue, my Subaru radio key fob lit up but didn't do anything, changed the battery and now works perfectly!!:thumb:

Lesson learnt:
Just because fob light doesn't mean that the battery is good, worth trying before any serious money is spent !
