David Bowie's first track in 10 years
What do you think?
|
I am a massive Bowie fan, but it doesn't really do it for me. I think his vocals aren't what they used to be and with the stripped back nature of this track that is only amplified. The song is also a little bland IMO!
That said I will still be wanting to hear the album. He really was one of rock's game changers in the 70s and early 80s. |
Like the song, like the video.
|
I am a big Bowie fan too
sound like a lament -- but quite like it for me the Young American album is by far his best -- Young Americans one of my all time favorite tracks (with the young Luther Vandross on backing vocals) |
Ziggy days were best for me, this track does nothing for me.
|
Great to hear that voice again.
I've been a Bowie fan since early days before Ziggy. Agree with Hodgy it does sound like a lament, very sad sound. |
Ziggy is the best album ever made and Hunky Dory, Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane are all classics too. Bascially the bloke is a legend and even if I am not partial to this new track I wish him all the best with anything he does.
|
His vocals aren't what they were, but then he is 66 (today in fact!). Personally I like it, but less so than his classic tracks.
|
Love it, unique, unusual Bowie.
I've liked him since this.. |

but fits Bowie perfectly imo -- not a fan of all his stuff (although have every album) but you have to hand it to the man so musically talented saw him live on the "Stage" and "Lets Dance" tours (and the only other band I have seen live is the Jam) |
MY god its slow.. delete!

A lot of the acts of today owe him a great deal. |

Yeah but not compared to the first time i saw Scary Monsters with the clown on the beach! The stuff of nightmares! |
IMO Bowie's effort is more convincing and refreshing than Macca's; for their advanced years in life. Good on Bowie. :thumb:
