The home brew MK2 Fiesta build :-)
Well as a lot of you know I had my Scooby for sale. Well she has now gone and as part ex I took this MK2 pop+
It has full XR2 running gear and is partly stripped out. https://i291.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSC01058.jpg https://i291.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSC01062.jpg Its fairly solid so will be fully stripped out and used as a track day car. I'll start a new thread for this car when the one below is finished..... .....which leads me on to the project car in question. Its a 1986 Fiesta L shell that cost me next to nothing. Its pretty solid for a 26 year old car. The previous owner has done a few jobs already, front arches grafted onto the rear, battery tray removed from engine bay for relocation in the boot and lots of other little bits. I intend to stamp my mark on it with lots of little subtle changes, engine transplant (unsure what as yet) and a full respray :D https://i291.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSC01061.jpg Tucked up in her new home https://i291.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSC01063.jpg Progress will be slow but I'm looking forward to getting stuck in as soon as everything gets back to normal after the festivities! |
Ooooh nice, love old fords especially the fiesta after having a Mk 1 for my first car:thumb:

My first car was a MK1 Fiesta too :thumb: It had a whopping 40-something bhp from its 950cc engine :lol1:

This belongs to a mate of mine.
http://www.zetecinside.com/xr2/index.shtml I can really recommend checking out what he's done as to be fair to him he's a bloody perfectionist and the car really is spot on. All built by himself. |

I've always loved old Fiestas but they're not getting any cheaper and I didn't want to leave it until they became overpriced like MK1/2 Escorts have become. As the Scoob wasn't getting used much she went to fund these two projects.

Love it :)

Anyhoos a bit boring but...... .......let the parts collection commence :D Just popped out and picked these up Bare rear axle (may do rear disc conversion on this) and a steering rack from an XR2. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/DSC01072.jpg I've got so much more to collect :freak3: |
Makings for my single wiper conversion c/w integrated washer jet :D
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/DSC01073.jpg I need to machine a groove in the new spindle to take the circlip, braise on the little cog and weld the ball from the old spindle to the new allowing me to use the original linkage. Small mod to the motor arm will be required. |
