I'm more horrified to think they are breaking for spares...... What could possibly be safe left on that.

The Pink Ninja 28 December 2012 10:12 PM

Looks like a bad case of understeer, front left corner impact, Looks worse as the roof/door has been cut off more than likely to get them out, That steering wheel wouldnt have helped...no airbag!

I'm surprised nobody knows the car, judging by the big FMIC and cone filter it obviously wasn't that standard.

ALi-B 29 December 2012 10:29 AM

With salvage there is always useful parts. I mean you don't write-off a good undamaged spoiler (no matter how ugly) just becuase the fromt end has been stoved and the roof's been chopped off. For example my mates building a tank carrier using parts taken off a military firing range!! (will shell holes in 1" thick steel axles! ).

If you look carefully, you'll note the front chassis legs are pretty much undamaged.....becuase the car has gone underneath something, probably a tail-lift on the back of a HGV or silimar (should be banned or have stronger safety buffers at car height IMO).

Thats why the FIMIC looks fairly ok...and if the FMIC is ok...behind that you have the engine, and its likely the timing belt hasn't been damaged. So tucked under there could be a good block (heads maybe damaged if the impact has hit the inlet manifold and bent the studs/bolts), same goes for the tranmission. Although it is a UK turbo 2000 thats been mega-chaved, so by default the mechanicals are going to be thrashed anyway.

The problem is you'll need a Stilh saw to get it out :lol1:

antonio99er 29 December 2012 11:06 PM

center exit exhaust?!?!?! i dont blame the lad for asking for it i blame the mechanic who agreed to fit it! think there next car shud be a corsa/saxo!

that being said hope there ok
