Mapping & Engine management light question.

Hi guys,

I know this has been asked many times but with so many different models its hard to nail an answer down, I have just bought a 1995 version 2 Sti RA and the garage fitted a decat to it after removing the OEM down pipe because it had rusted away. Now on the way home driving steady the engine management light started flashing, the car is running fine no problems I had a steady drive back with the car and realised it was due to the de cat pipe. I understand there is a fix for this could someone enlighten me ?

Second question is when I had a MY00 classic I ran a full decat on the OEM map without troubles is it the same on the earlier version and this is safe to do so ?

Also in regards fuel I am going on the assumption that its V Power plus octane booster to get the 100 Ron on the version 2

Finally I have read the odd snippet about ESL chips ? Now are these simply generic chips that get added to a space on the OEM map board to allow the car to run on V Power only ?

Yet another learning curve here :)

Thanks
Simon

I'm up to speed on the ESL board now, soldered in and mappable.

Great thanks for the info Andy I shall bare this in mind as I get further into the project.
I shall be repairing the cat and putting it back on the car for the time being here and hopefully that will resolve my small glitch I have at present.
