Anyone out there ever done an install on a P1, looking for some recommendations.... ideally components in the front, looking for quality over volume budget of about 1500.... Already have a Pioneer DEH 9300 headunit..

Ahem... choose your fronys carefully, make sure you know they'll fit, or be prepared to do a bit of trial and error. By looks of things, the cheaper 6.5s fit easier because of their lack of depth, cone excursion, flatter basket... I would take out the plastic surround and have a look at which speakers will fit reasonably well at the shop before deciding. Depends if you want a challenge or not.

fitted mb quart front and rear both 6.5. fronts have separte tweeter in o/e location rears cut rear shelf to fit.10" sub fit in to auto acoctic sub box behind o/s rear light unit. 2 alpine v12 amps fitted to rear of back seats. easliy under a grand if you fit yourself

I have been recently looking for components and don't really want to mess around trying various mid-bass to see if they would fit, the answer? Well I made a cardboard model of my desired speaker and the spacer to match. It was basic but accurate and I am happy that I can order my speakers and they will fit with no hassle and little work. My choice is Diamond Audio Hex S600s, I think thay sound sweet and with your budget about the right price at £500 for quality. Don't bother cutting the old speaker unit up if I were you in case you wish to replace them some day, and anyhow I think it's more hassle to cut the old unit and adapt than to make new spacers. I have heard that the supplied Diamond spacer can be easily adapted to make the 6.5" speaker fit with little or no work, don't hold yor breath though.

Edited to say that Diamonds are designed to have a very shallow fitting depth but you do have to pay for it and they need plenty of power to 'sing' the way they should.

Anyone wanna give me a hand installing.... Was going to go for Rockford FNQ´s but have a feeling they are going to be too deep.... Not too fussed about rear speakers, but looking to amp the fronts and sub/s....
