So it does i take it they use the td housing

henrysmith 17 December 2012 07:01 PM

What version is yours WhiteWagonMan - mine is a version one I believe - hence being September 2010 - they were then discontinued/stopped for a short while and then came out with a revised housing - version 2 I believe - You can have a read through the Billet thread but it takes ages I know - think I have a couple of questions on thread from a year and a half ago to Kev checking that mine was a billet version which Kev confirmed. Original invoice from Powerstation can easily be provided to anyone who wants it.

I have just sent a pm to Kev (The Gaffer) and hopefully will be able to confirm.

I believe the original SC42 was/is a Sleeve bearing (20g) with custom turbine (see page 32 of the Billet turbo thread).

Shaks-STI 17 December 2012 10:28 PM

Looks like my AF20g

The Gaffer 18 December 2012 02:31 PM

Hi,

early on in the billet range we did some 20 G billets (SC40) with bigger turbine wheels known as the SC42, these were sleeved bearing turbos more suited to bigger cc engines, they were discontinude and the SC42 name went on to a new SC42 Ball bearing Billet designed as the SC46 Billets smaller brother, designed for 2.0 and 2.1 ltr engines. :thumb:

The one advertised for sale here looks like one of the earlier SC42 Billet sleeve bearing units. ;)

Hope the above clarifies the situation. :D

cheers
Kev

Ahhhh..Now i see said the blind man to the deaf dog.:D

Now all cleared up and an it's an early SC42 sleeve bearing.

Price reduced to take this into account.

Many Thanks to Kev for taking the time to advise.

Hi,

any time sir, glad to be of help, :thumb:

Dam good turbo it is too, designed for bigger cc engines like the 2.5 as a cheaper alternative to the SC46 roller bearing Billet, which you have now upgraded to. :D

The only reason we dropped it from the range was most people went that little bit further financially and went for an SC46 Billet, ;)

cheers
Kev

Cheers Kev - I now feel it's a bit of a bonus because I thought the SC42 spooled really well on my 2.5 GB270 - but now have the SC46 on a ET forged build (700 running in miles still to do) so can't wait to see how it performs - if it spools as quickly or faster than my SC42 I'll be well pleased.

Cheers again.:thumb:

Hi,
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I acquired a turbo last year not knowing what it was the guy said it was a fp green but some people say they haven't seen an fp like this before, now after reading this thread I've compared the pics and numbers are the same so is this a sc42??

As requested. Only got the Dyno left for the final run/session on the TD04 actuator/mapped down to 1.2 bar.

Turbo was/is great on the 2.5.
