Edd Muppetband Takes the Pi$$

Edd Muppetband has announced that people shouldn't be working in the public sector if they cannot speak English.

Was it not the Labour government who put these people into these positions in the first place?:cuckoo:

This just couldn't get any worse, except Labour will probably get back in at the next election and it will be Deja Vu:brickwall

Dingdongler 14 December 2012 09:39 PM

It's a sad day when I agree with mrmadcap but this has to be the biggest U turn in history.

His cronies are all over the news today saying that a mature debate needs to be had on immigration. One was even saying that rather than local councils producing all literature in twenty different languages immigrants should learn English.

FFS, it was Labour govts/councils who produced this nonsense in the first place.

They want to have a mature debate now but it was their own leader Gordong Brown who was caught on tape calling a woman a 'bigot' for just bringing up the subject.

alcazar 15 December 2012 12:06 PM

But are we surprised?
Lying Labour has always been the party of "Do as I say, not as I do", invented by the socialists in Russia.

Now ALL politicians seem to be the same.......:(

Sorry but I didn't realise that immigration started in 1997

It didn't....but the wholesale encouragement of mass immigration had it's birth then.

A 60% rise in ten years tells it's own story Martin.

I'm not going to defend the previous government, because it could and should of been handled differently.

That said it's far from clear what any other government would have done given the same circumstances.

paulr 15 December 2012 03:21 PM

2014, unlimited entry to all Romanians...............

Leslie 15 December 2012 03:40 PM

At the time they foolishly thought that allowing unlimited immigration would increase their vote accordingly. As "Wislon" discovered after the Zimbabwe affair, it just does not work like that any more!

Politicians are only moved to do anything these days if they consider it to be a vote catching move.

Les

You've said this before with regards to just about everything I've criticised the Labour govt about. It's a nonsensical response and is not any sort of defence, it doesn't even make sense tbh

Dingo - as much as I tend to agree with you many things, on this I have to insist that you STOP making this a party political issue.

What is nonsensical is trying to pretend that history began in 1997.

We have seen the consequence of a Tory AND Labour policy of supporting EU expansion. Need I remind you that it was in fact the last Conservative government that pushed hard for Eastern European countries to be admitted into the EU as a bulwark against federalism.

Martin, I feel it's you who makes it a party political issue. I'm not saying Labour are to blame for everything and history began in 1997.

However there are some things that I feel Labour govts have to take the majority of the 'blame' for. Now that is just my opinion and I'm happy to hear argument to the contrary however just saying we don't know what others might have done so Labour has nothing to answer for is not an argument.

Some time ago when we were discussing the second Iraq war I made it quite clear that I (and probably millions of others) felt this war to be unjust, borderline illegal and not in the UKs best interest. As a result Tony Blair and his govt had the blood of tens of thousands of people on their hands.

Your counter at that time was similar ie we shouldn't really criticise because we don't know what a different govt may have done. It doesn't matter what another govt would have done in a parallel Universe, it matters what the people actually in power did.

I'd be happy to hear someones argument as to why they believe we should have entered that war, but the parallel Universe argument is not really debate is it?

Where ever there is depute, an arguement, a discussion, no matter what is it, however one sided it may be, you can trust Martin to try and redress the balance, fighting hard from on top the fence. :lol1:

And, afaik, Bulgarians too....:(

Apparently, if our present government tyries to stop any, like the other EC states did with the last influx, because WE let that lot in, we cannot now stop the others. European law.....Labour set the precedent.

And here's me thinking not even Lying Labour could be THAT stupid.........:cuckoo:
