Help with wheel choice .... please

The Hawkeye WRX I'm getting is black has the standard 17" silver wheels - which I'm planning to keep for winter use (or when it's too dark to see them).

I'd like a set of 18" and will probably go for silver or chrome (I do like my bling) but at present have no idea of what fits and what looks good.

More drawn towards the 5 spoke style rather than the multi-spokes...my STi 1999 had multi-spoke gold wheels and keeping them clean was a real pain in the whatsit so trying to avoid repeating that exercise.

So...most grateful if you could suggest 18" wheels that would go on the WRX and with links or photos would be most appreciated.

Q1: Do STi wheels fit on a WRX or are there mods needed?
Q2: Are there differences in the fittings between the different years/models or are they all basically the same?

depending on age? what year is your wrx if you have the pcd of 100 you can fit sti wheels before 54 plate, as they changed the hubs to a 114 pcd,

It's a 2005 Hawkeye - 1st registered 01-09-2005, thanks

Your pcd is 5x100 so stick with that pcd.

as mentioned you have the pcd of 100, so you need sti wheels before widetrack, if you like the Pff7s you can get them in 100 as the WR1 had them, sure you know what they look like if not ill post a pic

What tyres are recommended for general road use on 18" rims for the WRX?

Abx 14 December 2012 05:49 PM

Gold or Silver Speedline Turini's would look great on that as long as you lower it.

Xxr 527's all the way. they do them in silver or black chrome,

Too many spokes on the speedlines for the look I'm after and don't really want to lower the car - I live in rural France just south of Le Mans and often have to go visiting houses that have "rough tracks" leading to them so need the ground clearance.

You are aware that lowering a Scoob is likely to move the roll centre DOWNWARDS so that the car rolls MORE? That's your handling knackered....

Abx 14 December 2012 06:02 PM

Hmmmm, I've only had improved handling when lowering a car, why else would Prodrive have made uprated springs as an oe option, surely not for looks only?

What tyres are recommended for general road use on 18" rims for the WRX?

Tyres would generally be 225/40/18 or 215/40/18 for the classics maybe

Depends what you want? Road, road and track etc
Iw
Would choose for budget go with falken 452
Or eagle f1 ass 2, v12 road
Track, r888, ado8, ao48, or budget rsr

LVC 14 December 2012 07:01 PM

Road only - good grip (wet and dry), not noisy and long lasting.

Are the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport any good on a WRX ?
