Its not no, the WRX-S is the Midrange model in the hatch range, it has the Prodrive perfomance pack, Prodrive GT1 alloys, STI lower splitter, And only available in WR blue :thumb:

I think that's what they are. They have a different ecu also I think

Right found my old thread, its said the turbo is the limiting factor which is only good for 300max!

Right, did a little more digging for you...

WRX-S is ~255bhp not 265 as I'd previously stated which to me sounds like it doesn't have any of the cats removed (which makes sense as the current WRX STI 320R is just a remap, no mods to exhaust etc).

So, in that respect, a decat + remap should push you up to 270-280bhp so a gain of 15-25bhp but still, it's quite an outlay for that gain which still makes it better VFM to swap the turbo and shoot for 320bhp (IMHO).

At the end of the day, by the time you shell out for a decat exhaust you've spent the same if not more cash than you would by just swapping the turbo and you'd still be limited to the stock turbo's upper limit of 280bhp.

Thanks surely you must have to change some of the internals to run 320 bhp?

Not at all, most will comfortably take 340-350bhp, although it's a well known fact that the 2.5 engines have chocolate pistons, so don't turn the boost up too much or you'll find out the expensive way.
Ask a mapper and they'll advise you.
With the 2.5 engines, it doesn't really matter if it's a WRX or an STI as the pistons were unfortunately awful in both! Shame FHI chose to skimp really as they're very torquey engines.

You don't need a full decat at this level - you can comfortably achieve 350bhp with a good sports cat - a mate runs 482bhp on a RCM 100 cell sports cat! Sports cats are more expensive but easier come MOT time.
My old bug WRX recently made 350/350 with a Prodrive sports cat, decat centre, panel filter, VF35, Pink injectors and TGV delete.

I'd say - panel filter, decent 2.5" exhaust (get rid of centre cat if you have one), and a bigger turbo (say a VF35 or a front entry TD05 16g) and you'll see up to 350bhp and 400lbs on that engine without too much hassle. TGV delete and you'll see more, but then you're getting into "bang" territory!

Up to you though mate as it's your car and only you know if you can budget for a rebuild! I'd say 320 would be a good compromise and a safe margin to be fair.
