painting intercooler ?
So , i have bought a turbo blanket and when fitting it i will be taking the standard TMIC off.As some off the silver paint is bubbling off the main body i am going to paint it.
-What meathod of prep does it need ,just sand off the old paint and etch prime/and top coat ? -What paint ? Standard silver car paint/Silver High Temp/a pot of aluminium paint (is it aluminium paint or paint for aluminium) -anything to use on the bottom to reflect heat thats cheap and easy ? Have some aluminium tape thats used for pipe lagging , would that do anything ? Thanks in advance :) |
Any advice on this ?

i used alloy wheel paint.looked ok at the time but i think its a job for Ryan in the new year.
|
In what way ? Wrong colour shade , or wrong finish ?
|
it looked fine when i first did it but looks a bit worn now.Have a look in my albums you will see it.To be honest though i didnt put much effort into the preperation.

I been told it effects the performance of the Ic
|
But its painted from new ? Well , theres something on the surface thats bubbling off , i assume its silver paint.
I am just painting the main body , not the fins. Used the "search" on here and it turns into a debate on performance effect. I am just removing whats left of the origional paint and giving it a fresh coat. So maybe i should just ask how do i paint bare alluminium ? |
Ask the paint guru Ryan.
