Lovin my WRX MOT today feel they are so underrated
Sorry if you think this is a bit of a limp reason for a post
but just had to big up my WRX. I feel there is so mush posted about the STI and how great it is And its the only way to go But i have a 54 plate Face lift crystal grey blobeye it makes me smile just to look at it and i love driving it get around 30 mpg so get to drive it every day and today was MOT day and passed with no problems http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...s/P1080845.jpg |
WRX all the way
Well done on the mot too |
Happy for yer mate.! WRX's rule!!!!!:lol1:
|
yep wrx is the way forward and it doesn't sound like you have ichy gentlemen vegetables
|
WRXs are awesome.....yes the Sti has many parts that you want to add but you can build the wrx up to what you want, AND I LOVE IT !!
|
Standard WRX does for me, dressed up a bit with the spoiler but I drive like an old woman anyway lol
|
That's what it's all about fella , if you're happy that's all that matters
|
Don't know about the WRX being underrated, as a standard out of the box car, they're simply not that good.

Yes the Sti is the better car.....but that doesn't make the wrx any less of a car. The wrx is still a brilliant car and with a bit of fettling they can be truly impressive for the money!!
|
yea you're bound to say that as your car is a WRX :lol1:
If you had an STi then I'm pretty sure you would be singing its praises instead wouldn't you. WRX is simply too slow for me. Hell even a standard STi isn't exactly a missile by today's standards, it needs 300+bhp just to get going really. 30mpg :lol1: firstly you MUST be driving like an old fart and secondly who cares, you don't buy these cars for their economy, you buy them for A-B country road blasts. I get 18mpg tops extra urban and I don't rag its nuts off all the time, don't get the chance with the traffic anyway. I think that's pretty decent for a lardy 320bhp newage, not that I care ;) |
whats the max bhp that these blob wrx are ok for?

I don't think I ever averaged more than 20 - 24mpg on my weekly run in my WRX. :( The STi however, is 10% worse again. The suspension in a WRX is more suited to everyday use over bad roads, The STi can be a big unforgiving sometimes. That said, which do I prefer? The STi. By a mile. :thumb: The suspension is not as well suited to Everyday driving /roads Plus especially at this time of year the extra power and brakes you have with an Sti is as much use as a bucket with a hole in it ( unless you want to risk seeing what's on the other side of that hedge ) But you prefer the Sti by a mile Surprising what A bit of trim and a badge can do |
i like the drive of my wrx.. its standard power just now and it is rather slow compared to other cars ive owned.
but the thing is who ever keeps there car standard these days? lol ill take my wrx to 350 and that will do me. and many other mods to complement that. |

So you're saying not as good on fuel

Getting a bit old for all that now, just want something discreet that is still very fast and capable when required. :thumb: |
I'm happy for you mate, but youve still got it wrong because if your going down the WRX road you should have got the Wagon.

2005 WRX PPP & loving it.

So are you seriously suggesting the WRX is a better car? and the STi is just extra trim and badges, I think you maybe deluded sir :)
And pointing out at this moment in time ( Shiite weather , winter) The advantage of an Sti is minimal , unless like I said you want too push it and use the extra bhp and brakes on the lovely icey morning roads Btw a bog wrx / Sti is of no interest to me at all Both lacking in power IMHO |
I disagree, power is nothing without control. The STi's handling is far superior to a WRX, regardless of the power used.
Agreed both as standard are definitely underpowered, as are most cars out of the box, bar exotica. |
I find it quite amusing how the notion that an Sti is the be all and end all of Subaru
With the right driving conditions , ( which can be rare occasions on today's roads ) then yes a stock Sti could be considered the better car than a stock wrx but factor in the million other variables it means very little The biggest one is the driver Then tyres vehicle condition , tyres shocks , brakes ect On this site there are masses of Sti / wrx And most are modded , so Sti/wrx means nothing to me , There are wrx,s out there that will eat some Sti,s alive and Vice versa I know we are talking stock vs stock ( but how many are running stock scoobys ) Hence the reason it's a badge |
Mine's stock bar PPP and Rawle remap :)

I have a relatively rural commute to work and the roads this morning where awfull , it wouldn't matter what brakes suspension you have you would not have an advantage ( unless you want to risk wrapping it round a tree ) Now in summer or a nice dry day yes you could possibly use the extra , but there's could also be some one in a wrx who's a little braver , better driver , or just stupid that will be stuck on you're bumper |
Norman Dog i also looked at a spec D as like my Wrx it is in my opinion the best color
(stands back and waits for the shouts of Blue is the only color) But was put off by the tax and fuel economy i like to keep my cars as origional as possible and only fit factory options fitted a set of 3 lamco origional factory fitted dials in place of the clock (oil pressure/water temp/turbo boost) |
id have a bmw derv 330d over a wrx standard it will leave you for dead :D

I've had both ;) Oh and btw it won't leave it exactly for dead |
Silly arguement, If you compare the sti to wrx then obviously the Sti is the better car. In the real world, an STi costs circa double that of a similar age/condition/mileage WRX. Is it really twice the car?
The WRX is pound for pound one of the best cars in its class that money can buy and is head and shoulders above cars that you can buy for similar money. Im not 100% sure that you can say the same for the STi. |

06 onwards yes maybe but for an 06 or newer 330d your looking nearly 10k with 150,000 miles on the clock where as impreza wrx is nearly half that price for same age with 40,000 miles so hardly comparable classes of car. I have never driven a std impreza so can't comment how slow they really are. Buying an impreza of same age tuning it upto the value of 10k I think it would most likely **** all over ur 330d's though. |
