That's a HUGE leap in ten years...all down to meddling by Lying Labour.....

It certainly is!

urban 11 December 2012 05:02 PM

Yes, but surely that's just the ones that they know about.
How many more are there?
How many are claiming state benefits?

specialx 11 December 2012 05:04 PM

Does anyone know if any other countries have similar figures?:wonder:

dpb 11 December 2012 05:15 PM

But is it a good thing or a bad thing?

As long as they are working (or genuinely attempting to work) and paying taxes it is a good thing. And on the whole they need to be net contributors ie it's not good if taking out more in low income related benefits than they hand over in taxes. (Because on top of that they will be using our health/education services.)

But with the provisos mentioned immigration can be a positive thing. Some developed countries MAY suffer because they have low birth rates and no immigration = large demographic of elderly who aren't paying taxes, fueling internal domestic demand or generally driving the country forward.

imho

dpb 11 December 2012 06:12 PM

Still way too many decent white folk

What's FAR worse than bad, martin? It's whatever that is.

HUGE strain on resources, funds etc, plus jobs that WERE done by our young no longer available to them. HUGE sums going out of the country in wages and benefits, NOT bringing benefit spent here.

Those who don't know state that Eastern Europeans are the best workers. Those with experience will almost always tell you otherwise:(

Not to mention the un-insured drivers in un-MoT'd cars.
And the extra crime from the Balkan states.

How is a single group representing 45% a minority?

Is it if you add all the other groups up (and notice non-white British are lumped in to the 55%) but that would be stupid and is only doen by news outlets for a headline. If you break down all ethnicities and nationalities, White British will be the biggest group by a long way.

I like it the way it was when I grew up :)

But that's because I am old and probably look at the past through rose tinted.

Am happy to try and help genuine asylum seekers but the rest - bugger off unless they have specialist skills that the country needs.

This. Unfortunately for (the pair of) us, we both have first hand experience of those points :(

Which you allow to cloud your view?

J4CKO 12 December 2012 12:18 PM

This is down to labour trying to import its own voters to stay in power amongst other things, we are the soft touch here, I have nothing against immigration per se but when we practically let anyone in it has got out of hand.

We want to attract skilled people, people with money, people prepared to work but not those looking for an easy ride, they need weeding out, there should be basic standards to stay here. I object to paying £1500 a month stopages a year and then having to wait in the same queue for medical attention as someone who has just arrived here, it isnt free, I have payed for mine and if they havent they can piss off !

Time to stop it happening, we are multi cultural enough, we have our own problems without importing more, would love to see the figures for this three million.

Of course, say anything you get the racist card played,

That is the biggest load of nonsense I've read on here (and that is saying something)

Thing is though where do you draw the line at this sort of thing?

For instance I haven't got kids and don't want any, but yet part of my taxes go towards education. Why shoud I pay to educate someone else's kids?

It's not black and white (pardon the pun) and it's how and where you draw the line I struggle with!

Not quite the same thing though as presumably you've been in the country for some time paying taxes as you go vs someone who arrives yesterday yet still gets all the privileges as you despite paying zero tax so far. Same applies to people that have been here for just a few years. The point for me is that anyone (white, black, whatever) who has lived in the UK for x years should get "more" than people who have just landed.

A real example that is similar for me - I've lived in this area for 40 years, been paying taxes for 20 of those years yet I only just got my son in to a local senior school (had to go to a tribunal). Absolutely anyone can move in to this area and get their kids in in front of mine as long as they live closer to the school ... wtf is that all about :cuckoo: where the f*ck is the protection for local people

I ask the same thing about football clubs. What has "Liverpool" or "Arsenal" or "Sunderland" got to do with anything any more.

dpb 12 December 2012 12:42 PM

Well my ole mans naturalized American been there 25 years ,he may rock up here in ten since cost health care there is prohibitive

He left here when he was 40? Ten years which I'd be dubious he actually paid his stamp

Will he get an upgrade? :)

Yeah but my point is why should I pay for any of that. Your son, an immigrant's son. Any of it? I am not draining society's resources by sprogging right, left and centre so I should pay less into the sytem :thumb:

Just playing devil's advocate here btw :D

You can't just make a sweeping statement. Some immigrants come here and pay into the system, some don't through no fault of their own and some take the p1ss. Same for the indigenous population. The system that allows this needs looking at and it isn't just about immigration!

jpor 12 December 2012 01:09 PM

Simple Answer: "This country is a soft Target!"
What gets me is that I heard that imigrants from eastern Europe come into this country. Work and if they can prove it don't pay tax in this country if they pay tax back at their own country of origin. Yet, they use our schools, Libraries, NHS etc.. at no cost to them. Yet I pay tax in this country. Its stupid. Rant over...
