Cleaning a TV screen.

Ok so I'm guessing lot's of you all have big(ish) TV screens at home, Anytime I 'try' and clean mine I'm left with smears all over the place and it looks worse than when I started, what do people use to avoid the horrible smear affect? Is glass cleaner ok?

Leslie 10 December 2012 03:33 PM

Our tv came with a special cloth for cleaning it and which did the job well enough. Mrs Leslie can't remember where she put it now of course!!!

Les :)

I've tried a lint free cloth already, but not much improvement.

Everybody will have their personal favourite, but Mer Ultimate Polish will leave the screen streak free, as long as you use it with a slightly damp cloth and don't use too much. It's also the best mirror cleaner ever ever ever.

On my plasma (glass screen) I use a microfibre cloth and.......my breath believe it or not. I`m pretty ocd about most stuff and that works for me :D If it`s LCD then I dunno, would never entertain one :thumb:

Just use a microfibre cloth on my plasma, generally seems to make it shiny again.

Plasma, by its very nature, has to have a glass screen. Therefore they may well be a good reason to use a different screen cleaner on a plasma compared to LCD.

No not anything special :lol1: My plasma has a glass surface and my (cheapo) LCD upstairs has a surface the same as a laptop screen if ya know what I mean :thumb:

I use a microfibre cloth with a tiny bit of water (literally a dribble :) ) to wipe it over then the dry side of the microfibre to "polish" it up. Brings it up spotless and smear free....even after a two and a half year old has been running her fingers over it!

:D

Glass cleaner and kitchen roll. Make sure the tv has been off for a while though, so the glass is cold.
