Is it too cold to polish/wax the scoob

Helllo,

At last the weekend looks dry!
So my plan for the scooby tomorrow is wash, clay and polish with autoglym ultra deep shine. but what's playing on my mind is, is it too cold to polish the car? it's going to be around 1 to 4 deg c tomorrow and it will be all done on the drive as I don't have a garage, I probably be freezing my moobs off! but thats ok as long as the scoob has it's winter coat on.

so before I start is it too cold or does it not matter?

Cheers
Wannis

Well mate your not the only one,I've got a massive detail planned and I've only got a drive aswell.just make sure you don't polish or wax when it's too cold like after 3-4 because you won't buff it off properly cos of the dew.

i was going to do this today.Took my dog for a walk instead

Polish is going to be hard to break down but the wax should be ok

I'm glad I'm not the only nutter who is going to be out in the cold giving the car a good old polish!!

A mate who is into his detailing has told me to try and get it done before 2pm, so will crack on in the morning.

Your mate is right. The only thing that's gonna help is loadsa hot chocolate!
Lesson learnt, next year polish and wax in October latest.I also have a Caliper refurb planned aswell. But I might have to cancel that. But you never know.

I am planning the same thing, one more coat of wax before the snow hits!

waiting for the car to defrost.........might as well have a fry up and a nice hot coffee to prepare the body for the next few hours in the cold!.....yes that sounds like a good plan!

How did it go mate, did you get out there?

I gave mine a clean after getting all 4 tyres replaced. :thumb:

daz b 11 December 2012 04:07 PM

Yes got it out to give it the treatment but went out for a spin first!! So only a clean but no wax, this weekend hopefully!!

chocolate_o_brian 12 December 2012 02:28 AM

Excellent results there, but always give the car a wax/sealant coat after polish. Polish makes the paint look pretty but the wax/sealant protects it ;)

sssssteeeee 18 February 2013 05:41 PM

as long as its not raining or snowing u get warm anyway with all the moving about. my woman says its like a workout, more so if your claying and polishing and adding a sealcoat. 3 x around the car !! but its worth it, had some kids other day walk past and one said look hes at it again! washing the car, so i said clearly yep every friday.except if its snowing or raining.
