Holding my hands up, I've dropped a #ollock

ok I've managed to snap the ebs ring on the rear of my 2002 sti while removing a stuck disc. Anybody managed to stick one back together successfully with araldite / superglue or similar? or is this a stupid idea? cheers Andy

plenty of broken ones (impreza`s) knocking about on here or ebay,
Easy mistake to make.

ScoobySteve69 24 November 2012 11:39 AM

The only problem is, no breakers will strip down a hub just to give you an ABS ring. Brand new they`re silly money. I ended up buying 2 complete, used hubs and struts to sort my TWO broken ones!!

thanks for replies.

im trying to avoid fitting a new part as i believe its a difficult objob? what i wanted to find out has anyone successfully repaired/glued one in sditu???

rob84 25 November 2012 03:56 PM

Yep I've managed to repair one for a customer who refused to pay around £122 for the new ring and a then a new bearing on top.

They weld up very easily just make sure you keep it 2mm off the sensor and you'll be fine its a fiddly job but it's possible and in situ I may add.

to replace it you'd be looking at a new bearing seals & hub nut and possibly a tie bolt and you'd need to press out the hub flange and replace the ring then press it back into the hub but it's recommended replacing the bearing at the same time.

like a cast steel, looks like alloy but it's not. Mig welder will make short work of it.

bearing 28016PA010 £85.75
outer seal 28015AA070 £14.46
inner seal 28015AA080 £16.30
hub nut 28044AA000 £8.56

Abs Tone wheel 27550FE000 £118.49

all prices exclude vat at 20%

hi Rob, you mention welding? did you use a mig with mild steel wire? what method/prep did you use? also did you disdmantle anything? thanks for sharing Andy

rob84 28 November 2012 10:05 PM

Hi Andy,

Just a Mig with the std copper type wire and argoshield gas, just make sure theres no oil or grease on the ring when you weld it. I did tack it first then manipulate it to get the clearance for the sensor. no need to remove anything. then just weld it ontop.

just make sure not to fill any of the recesses with weld otherwise you'll get a false reading..
