How to get the special impreza sound...
 

I have a non turbo fitted with a stainless steel system, no middle box.

It sounds almost as good as some of the turbo's... almost.

I'm gonna take it to my custom exhaust garage soon and get a full system, can anyone explain to me just what it is that helps give that deep throaty burble so i can get the right kit?

I'm thinking unequal headers, decat, and what diameter should i be looking at?

Unequal headers mate = burble

As above, it will never sound like the traditional impreza burble until you fit unequal leangth manifold.

A member on here SC00BY_MAD (nice chap called Darren) had a sport (probably the nicest sport that's graced Scoobynet in fairness) and that had a 2.5" decatted system running off Borla unequal length headers. That sounded nice and just like a turbo :)
