Which classic car?
Apart from 1975, when I went through 9 cars, I tend to hold on to my motors for quite a long time, e.g. Mk1 RS2000 (the last car from 1975) 9 years, 3-door Cosworth 11 years, STi IV 5 years, T25 7 years (so far).
So I need to experience something else, and I'm looking for ideas. Not worried about mpg as it will do minimal mileage, but what car should I own? My own thought include: Lotus Europa TC (one of the 1975 cars, but was a disaster, but still have an itch to scratch though), Porsche 944/968, MGB (had 12 spridgets, but never a B). Budget would be £10 - £12,000. |
Out of those, my choice would be the 968 ( better still if you could get a club sport)! Or maybe a V8 928?
|
911 turbo would be on my list
|
Escort Mk 2 Mexico or RS2000
Integrale 8V or 16V |
I guess a 911 of some sort should be on the long list, but I've done the Escort thing. Integrale could be up there.....
More? |
Lotus sunbeam. :thumb:
I have a MK1 RS2000. :luxhello: |
Classic Mini? If you haven't had one, you should.
|
droopsnoot firenza
|
Some kind of alfa?
|
Sunbeam Lotus is on the long list for sure.
I had a few classic minis back in the day, including a couple of Coopers. Not sure I would want the constant bouncing these days :). Not seen a droopsnoot for years. It'll go on the list. Never been enthused by Alfas, don't know why. Still thinking. |
DeLorean ........ :Suspiciou
|
Jenson interceptor

for £12k...I would buy a Porsche 928 GTS Manuel !!

Been there done that. Just look on quattro forum and see the section "NLA" that is No Longer Available. Audi in their infinite wisdom lost a lot of tooling for these cars when a factory was moved so stock for some parts are non existent. If going for a classic stick to something simple. So non turbo charged and uncomplicated. |
Mk1 MX-5........................sh*t, got one!
|
Some good ideas there, though I think the DeLorean and Jensen are out of my price bracket.928 is a possibility, as is the Stag and Elan +2 (probably the only Elan model I could afford to buy) Don't like the GT6 (but like the TR6), never been that keen on the 240Z or Alfa Spyder, but would consider the MX-5.
The list grows longer :) |
Dolomite Sprint

chevette HSR or manta 400.
