PMB Performance - little project - 2012

We started off by finding a two door shell, stripped for parts when imported, so just a bare shell.
The shell had already been painted in BMW CSL Grey and just needed some finishing touches, the cage was also half installed.

We then started sourcing all the missing trim parts we needed and the 2 door sat in the corner of the workshop for a few months

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...49130067_n.jpg

Then I happened to have a "small Chassis failure" on my personal version 8 JDM STi

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...82455361_n.jpg

so we decided to do a complete newage classic conversion into the two door using the DCCD 6 speed and full STi Engine, dashboard and loom from the v8 JDM

The shell went off to Langworth motorsport near lincoln (a company we work with regularly) for the cage to be finished to a high standard

The painting then began

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...22702561_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...15578035_n.jpg

we decided to do all the underneath matching

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...22081506_o.jpg

then in goes the transmission and running gear

bride lightweight seats arrived

and the interior plastics went in

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...26621232_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...65847836_o.jpg

Engine was carefully installed. 2.0 Semi Closed JDM Version 8 with AVCS heads and a twin scroll turbocharger

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...64057082_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...34856184_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...11005627_o.jpg

The exhaust was then fitted, including a full custom screamer pipe set up decat and a nurspec for the rest

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...07933707_n.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...26179435_o.jpg

All the panels, lights and wiring were then finished to a reasonable standard, this was never meant to be a show car. its meant to be abused. but once she all went together this is how she looked

http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...40911831_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...13678875_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...28585999_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...82300160_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...19673412_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...24984343_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...86747076_o.jpg
http://i994.photobucket.com/albums/a...94022028_o.jpg

And this is how she goes. 1.35 Bar with a basic running in map at the moment, hopefully increasing to 1.7 bar after winter using the carberry ROM on the standard ECU

Infected by sti 31 October 2012 03:31 PM

Fair play to you fella, looks like a fair bit of work gone in to that, especially when it's only been built to be abused :lol1:

Bet it's a good bit of fun tho, I love my JDM blob so with less weight I bet that goes rather well :norty:

How good does the new age dash board fit in?Did you fitted door carts as well (pics please of the details)?

Thanks

Paul83b 01 November 2012 05:43 PM

its a pain in the arse ! we had to be cut around the cage though so that made it harder, we used the newage support bar modified, cut then welded to the cage with the newage heater matrix and loom squeezed in, luckily most of the holes through the bulkhead for water feeds for the heater matrix lined up.

no door cards are miles off! 2 door ones were closer than 4 door ones but it will still need some modifications to work.

Paul83b 08 November 2012 09:51 AM

works well doesnt it!

Fat Boy 09 November 2012 11:12 AM

Nice job but, personally, I couldn't handle the green cage. I'd have done it in the same colour as the car myself, but each to their own and, as I say, overall great job.
