Piston rings

Hi guys have a v5 sti with a 30k bottom end was running md195 , front mount, bigger injectors, simtek/ new alcatec ecu etc etc. Car always had regular services and decent oil. Is there any particular reason why my pistons rings have gone on front right piston on. 30k inspected bottom end
Cheers james

In what way have the rings gone on that particular piston and only that one ?
Det damage/ingress damage/face scored/rings cracked/scuffed ??

Hi mick car was fine driving 70 mph and all of a sudden huge load of smoke out the back we thought it was turbo so swapped for a spare we had started car again and still loads of smoke i understand that exhasust could have been full of oil but it was thick oil smoke and the ar sounded aweful hunting sluttering and a slight knocking sound. We pulled engine out and removed heads, we then found that piston 1 could move around in the bore quite alot of play we then moved piston up and down to see if we could feel and movement from big ends but doesnt feel lile bottom end causing issue it seems like rings or ringlands. What type of damage could running too rich As it seemed to be quite rich as lot of dark soot on pistons ? Cheers james

If it was running rich for a long time I think I am correct in saying the bores were probably washed and caused wear on the rings and then the engine start to use oil giving your smoking problems. Is this a forged engine or standard?

Standard bottom end bud this is wat we are thinking wondering if it running rich is wat has caused failure. It alao did not like to idle from cold ie it would start fine and idle but as soon as u touch throttle it eould want to die until warm when warm its fine. Cheers james

Not really understanding you........ maybe bring to a specialist. Not saying that rich was the cause but might be a possibility. Doesnt matter what mileage an engine has if its not running right or mapped right its a ticking time bomb imo
