Bubbles in paint
 

Hi guys having a really bad day. Two months ago I bought a white 2005 sti which had been painted white about a year or two ago. This morning I noticed the metal parts of the whole car were covered in thousands of little spots which have appeared in the damp weather all of a sudden. It feels like sandpaper, any ideas of the cause or any suggestions on fixing. Thanks guys.

If its had a cheap paint job and not been prepped properly and it is rust bubbles coming through the only way to sort it is to strip it back and get it done properly, Get a pic up so one of the paint guys can give you some advise :thumb:

It will be moisture in the primer , not properly dried out before top coat went on.

Pretty sure its what i said , called micro-blisters i think ?

Looks like moisture trapped in the base[colour] layer Tony and it's reared it's head as the temperature has started to drop,also could be as above with primer not cured properly although that should have shown itself early than now if painted a year or more a go.
Either way it will require sanding back through the clear and base layer to rectify the issue and to ensure no future issue's after a repaint.

Thanks guys I feared that. Do you think it goes as and when its sunny again? Prev owner prob knew this Im guessing.

Also I had the roof painted 2 weeks ago. Would being put in the oven had any effect?

It may get a little flatter when sunny/hot but it will never go away mate,only solution is a respray on affected panels.

Ahh that bit of info just let the cat out of the bad so to speak,it would have most definitely caused the under lying trapped moisture to come up!

Wow really! Makes sense. Only had roof done because someone had a roofscoop on it. Gutted! Thanks for the help.

Yes it would have come out like it is now but the extra heat from baking off the roof has speeded up the process.
