Billet uprights who is seriously interested

1 Attachment(s)
I am seriously thinking about taking this project on guys, but would like to get an idea of who is interested. These would not be cheap for me to make, but we would be cheaper than others... exspecially if we made a small batch (5-10 sets) rather than a one off set. I would say there would be 40-50 hours in R&D AS I would have to draw these up from scratch from standard uprights/hub.

I would be looking to make the uprights and the hubs from 7075,,, then I think it would be wise to send them off for peening which would increase the strength even more... they would be pretty tough and the weight saving would be quite substantial compared to stock heavy steel uprights.

Very hard to say at the moment mate... MSI charge 4K!! Maybe 1k

Yes, we would need to make two versions, I would like to say we could make a removeable top to adapt different calipers

 Although I do understand the costs and time involved to make them. I'll just have to stick with my heavy steel ones.

firstly 7075 is strong stuff plus it will be certificated to say the billet has been xrayed for any fractors.
These will have to go through quite a bit of testing on actual cars before we can of course sell them on .

Cool, brought a impreza today so will get them off and drawn up ASAP

kirstybumx3 17 October 2012 12:29 AM

Hmmmm count me in

stedee 17 October 2012 06:38 AM

i would have thought they will need tempering and anodising. would you machine them on 5 axis, probably do it in one op well maybe

allsop83 17 October 2012 11:21 AM

If you had any idea of loads these would take (possibly OE design specs) they would be not too bad to make - I would want to see some kind of FEA analysis before putting something like this on my car (in reference to the state of the roads!)

CDF Racing 17 October 2012 11:53 AM

Yes, they would be made on a 5 axis.

I need to get them drawn up firstly, which will take some time. But now I know there is plently of interest I will start the process soon

we will do plently of testing on track and rally and post results

chris
