My problem is i have very little knowledge when it comes to using spanners on a Subaru
If i wore a hat i would take it off to you boys who can use them.

There is no reason why anyone can't learn, I'm self taught everything on my cars, had never even changed brake pads before I bought my Starlet.

Then I started taking the engine out and now I am fitting gearboxes to my subaru and turbos etc!

What's the worst that can happen?!?!

I was a student who had never messed around with a car before. Got some decent tools and some friends with experience and learnt as I went. General maintenance is really easy, even to the stage now of fixing my LC etc on the fly at a drag event! You should really give it a go

I've been to tuners all over the North of England and the only mechanic/hobbyist who I have had no complaints with is my wife.

Fuel pump, bigger intercoolers, coolant hose fabrication, OBD2 port fixing, Engine code clearing, sideskirts/bonnet vent fitment, rear diff oil change - she even recently hopped on youtube to view turbo fitting guides! No matter what needs doing she asks me if I want her to sort it.

I kinda think specialists tuners have dropped off slightly due to as Tommy would say "chavs joining the marque."

You're going to the wrong places then Matt. ;)

Take them off private!

Infected by sti 12 October 2014 11:08 PM

Saying the vids are private here J?

JGlanzaV 13 October 2014 10:03 AM

Try now ;)

joe v3sti 13 October 2014 10:06 AM

Good time j considering such poor conditions. Looked like it was really struggling to hook up. What tyres did you run on?

Joe

JGlanzaV 13 October 2014 10:08 AM

Normal road going Toyo Proxes at 32psi :)

The video against the Audi really shows how difficult it was to get traction it was well sideways on the launch, was having to fight the back end all the way up the strip.

joe v3sti 13 October 2014 10:28 AM

Yeah no wonder with those tyres. Your terminals must have been near enough 120 then?

Full timing was

1.72 60ft

11.46 1/4

123mph terminal

That was before the track got wet, the video with the ford consol was my 2nd fastest time of the day, similar times but ended up with an 11.48 1/4

That drag strip looks worse than Melbourne where Matt races.

joe v3sti 13 October 2014 07:14 PM

York race way isn't too bad really, it's certainly no Santa pod!
The worst part of Melbourne is the return road, it's a disgrace!

Aye, and it fcuking stinks! First things I always did after a run was drop the window and get my skid lid off.

Not there, the window went straight back up and I closed the visor and shut the vents. :D

joe v3sti 13 October 2014 08:27 PM

That'll be the chicken sh@t farm over the road. Lovely jubbily

JGlanzaV 13 October 2014 09:49 PM

They leave most of the cow **** on the side of the track here lol.

Yeah the surface isn't great so the times are always slower here, might head up to shakey one day if we get some good weather.

Its a nice local day out though and thoroughly enjoyable

b3mwe 13 October 2014 10:08 PM

Well done bud me you and gary had a smashing weekend at all our different events

RS_Matt 13 October 2014 10:10 PM

It's the parking that did me at York this Sunday, I parked it right in a marsh. Those friggin puddles on the road in a 100 yards from scrutineering are horrific.

How many RWYB hosting strips are there in the UK

Santa Pod.
York Raceway.

joe v3sti 13 October 2014 10:25 PM

Thanks mate, yeah I agree it does sound good, equal length manifolds ftw!

Love the noise in the vid with the rs4 the launch control sounds insane :L

mickywrx 14 October 2014 07:52 PM

Still some at Elvington, I don't think there's as many as there used to be though.

Kwik 14 October 2014 09:41 PM

Great video mate, great times as well I bet you're well happy.

I thought they had banned events there now, noise restrictions or something
