ITG Filter is it worth buying anyone fitted one comments please....

Scooby-Duke 11 May 2002 09:38 PM

Hi Juliano

Had mine on now over a month, most impressed. More responsive and sounds better.

Juliano 11 May 2002 10:05 PM

Is it straight forward to fit dave?

Jamie Whitfield 11 May 2002 11:46 PM

They are very easy to fit, unclip the top of the filter box, take the old one out, make sure to seat the ITG correctly and clip the top of the box back in place.

If you need one please let me know, just click on our banner or mail me, we have loads in stock!

If i fitted a ITG filter could i still fit a cone filter at a later date eg. hks or k&n.......

Jamie Whitfield 12 May 2002 12:02 AM

To fit a cone filter you have to remove the standard Air box, so there are no reasons why you couldn't do this at a later date.

I think the ITG is excellent, noticeable difference off-boost (pulls away more easily on light throttle); on boost I can't really say because I have a standard exhaust. Took 5 minutes to fit ( a bit slow, sorry ).

Cone filters... supposedly, occasionally, cause air flow sensor failures.....due to poorer particle filtration.... not an expert...

I have a GREEN panel airfilter same idea as K&N.

Find that it does seem to help the turbo spool up and you can hear a the great sound of the turbo!

Although when I fitted it at first noticed a little drop in power.....
I believe this was probably due to the filter being over oiled come too think of it at first I couldn't even hear the turbo, now I CAN! NICE!

So I recommend giving this filter a little time be sucked dry(pardon the expression!), maybe 500 miles or 200 spirited ones!
The more I use mine the louder she gets!!! (We're not talking sonic boom by the way just more noticeable in the sound department)

Plums.

Oh and if the ITG is a dry filter then I'll get my coat because nothing of this applies!

simon grove 12 May 2002 09:13 AM

A filter on its own is very unlikely to increase power/torque etc. This has been shown time and time again with rolling road experiments.Sounds nice though....

scoobypig 12 May 2002 01:42 PM

Have to say mine seems to have made no difference to performance on my 02wrxppp.
Still, I'll leave it in now.
Anyone had any problems from dealers about them when serviced etc.
Wondered if i should put the OE one back in but then i may be charged for a new one which i won't use...

stevenuk300 12 May 2002 09:09 PM

Since fitting my ITG a couple of weeks ago, it seems smoother and pulls better towards the red line.
Not had it rolling roaded, but I noticed the difference straight away. Well worth the money

stewpot 13 May 2002 12:11 AM

Hi Juliano , fitted my ITG panel filter on my UK 97'mod 3 weeks ago , very pleased with the differance it made as it is only a panel filter . I allways thought a cone filter was the best to fit , but i would say GO GET ONE MATE .

Hey Juliano and friends,

I had free technical advice from Paul (Trouser) at TSL, check him out www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk or call 0115-937-7200. Bought my ITG panel filter from him. Thanks Paul

ITG Panel Filter was very easy to fit (30 seconds flat !).. and a small perceptive change in torque/performance ...
Most would recommend an exhaust upgrade to
complement as they appear work better together ...
