I think we were here, almost exactly a year ago, funnily enough

I think these chaps/esses are marginally more overpaid for the work given than footballers, for what it's worth

zip106 30 September 2012 11:18 PM

Hardly strenuous.

Like darts, it ain't sport.

IWatkins 30 September 2012 11:50 PM

Dumb quote of the week award!

Golfers, like tennis players, snooker players, lots of sports actually, get paid for winning.

Footballers get paid no matter how they perform.

The Ryder Cup is not a money winning event. It's like the World Football Cup, it is a tournament played for pride and prestige (and with considerably less cynicism and cheating, it has to be said).

If you don't like golf fair enough, each to their own, but don't talk out of you @rse ;)

Football is hardly strenuous compared to a triathalon, does that mean footall is not a sport? :cuckoo: Come and walk round our course with a bag full of clubs on your back, see how strenuous it is

It's as competitive as football. It's requires at least as much skill at the highest level as football (considerably more at the lower levels. Anyone can kick a football - disbilities notwithstanding - lots of people can't even make contact with a golf ball).

Ryder Cup is a great tournament and I could kick myself for not watching it on TV late last night

Always nice to beat the yanks :thumb:

Well done Europe :)

Its being included as part of the Olympics, so what does that make it then?

As much as I love golf, synchronised swimming is in the Olympics, it may not have been the best argument to make........ ;)

Bloody hell, get over yourselves, chaps.

My comments were all a bit of fun

Walk around your course?
Why the hell would I waste my time doing that?

Like all things in life, what's good for one isn't necessarily good for another!

Leslie 01 October 2012 11:39 AM

Like any form of sport it is of concern to those who are interested in it.

I don't play golf but I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and congratulate our own team on an outstanding win.

Outstanding stuff

I spent 12 hours in the garage yesterday tidying, painting, putting up shelves and lights and listened the the entire thing on 5Live, but had to race indoors for Kaymers putt and the closing moments.

It's been a very special year for British sport, we just need England to retain the T20 World Cup now and the Scousers to get relegated to make it complete :D

This is the new definition of hubris - made me roar with laughter this morning

Amazing golf - well done Europe

Godspeed Brakes 01 October 2012 12:46 PM

I sat down at 5pm to watch it yesterday and watched right through , swore and shouted at the tele a few times when we made some crap shots but boy was that a comeback , I was riveted to it , absolutely fantastic :D

The closing few holes were fantastic watching , they must have nerves of steel !

I'm a golfer so appreciate what they do , I lol at all the good walk spoilt blah blah comments by non golfers , each to there own , its not just about hitting a ball about with a golf bat as my Mrs calls them , it is a good walk , 4-6 miles with a bag on your back , but its also a good test of character , of nerves and skill , there's not many people that play golf and not get hooked.

Its a close call between the two sports I play which is my favorite , Rallying and Golf , you can't get 2 sports further apart than that :D
