massive believer of "no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners"

Owned 2 previously, my latest passed about 2 years ago, lovely lovely animals and so loyal. What would you like to know?

Theyre alot of hard work by the way, I wouldnt take one on, on the basis that its a dog like all others. They require alot of looking after.

And off course you could never have a Bulldog and not call one of them Winston ;)

All a long time ago now, wouldnt have another though unless I was settled with a family, they do require a hell of alot of attention otherwise they become depressive animals, and the strange thing is you can see it in them

If you want less problems and less weight, get a Pug. Same character.

Me and the wife really wanted and British Bulldog but decided not to after doing some research now I know most pedigree dogs are bred with issues due to interbreeding but when I heard that a British bull dogs need to be born via a cesarean section due to how wide the pups are at birth hence the large price for pups! (I may be totally wrong but was told this by a couple of breeders) This for us was a step too far so we decided against one, we end ended up with a sharpei who is a fantastic dog again they used to be prone to problems but with good breeders about nowadays eyes and skin problems are low.

Good luck with whatever you get! :thumb:

I have a girl bully. After years of research and nagging at hubby to get 1 her finally gave in last year and brought her :notworthy. We have bred boxers for years and although fantastic dogs would have another bully tomorrow. Do alot of research, contact reptuable breeders and find out as much as you can, they range from £1500/£2500 and would only by from a reputable person so you dont end up with a pup that has just been bred to line someones pckets rather than look at health issues. Temperment wise, fantastic, ours loves everyone, she plays with our boxer and mothers our cats. Execerise wise a healthy bully is as fit as any other dog as long as you watch their weight. Ours goes for a good walk/run with our boxer and the boxer is the 1st to flag and just want to sleep when we get in. They are very stubborn. Full of character. I have not had any issues with mines health other than the usual cleaning her folds with a wet wipe. Look for a pup with a straight tail to prevent that becoming tight as it grows causing problems, the nostrils too should be "L" shaped and nice and open. Again no breathing issues with ours although she does snore very loudly. Breeders these days are breeding for healthier dogs breeding out the breating issues. Mating wise well i havent bred mine but it is supposed to be very hard and very time consuming. If you may be interested in an older bully Tania at BULLDOG rescue is superb and they occasionally have the odd puppy, but again if you need to i can give you some good breeders details.Good luck with you search :)

taken when we went to choose her.

I don't generally like Dogs. I got bit by a Springer Spaniel when I was 12, the owner was the usual 'you're ok it won't go for you' type until seconds later when it was shredding my trousers! I don't trust them (and from experience don't think owners should fully either) BUT I am quite drawn to short haired chunky ones like Staffies and Bulldogs (I put it down to being short haired and chunky myself :lol1: ) Yours looks full of character and rather cute :thumb: Any names?

Is it possible to be 'breedist' like racist but with dogs? I think I am!

there are currenly lots of "discussions" about names :nono:

i think alot of peep are "breedest" some peep will slag a dog to death even tho they may never have even been in a room with a dog of that breed!

iv had people pratically spitting at me while walking my rotti's saying how they should be shot blah blah dangerous, evil dogs blah blah . however those same people never seem to notice how my dogs can all sit in the car park off the lead while im rooting around in the boot and not move a muscle while there little bundles of heavenly joy will yap/pull and generally go nuts if they even see another dog!!
think there is way too much stigma with some dogs and every dog is diff. 98% of the time its bad owners!
*soz mini rant over*

davegtt 09 December 2012 08:21 AM

Fantastic Riza, glad you chose to get one. I'm sure you will get many happy years with him..?? Always said if I had another Bully Id call him Harry, fitting name for them I think lol.

stonejedi 09 December 2012 09:00 AM

Lovely looking pup.

CharlySkunkWeed 09 December 2012 09:20 AM

Im a firm believer in "its the way theyre brought up" as my 1st dog we had from a pup wouldnt have hurt a fly and wouldve sat on the spot all day if u told it too, never barked. After getting it put down due to illness , we adopted a 1yo pup from a family with a baby on the way. Now i dont know if it picked up bad habbits. with its 1st owner (had a young daughter) but it has very little obedience , barkes at everything (i swear it has tourettes)and i dont even trust it , never mind letting kids anywhere near it !

Both Jack Russels , both completly different characters.
