Tune without map?

Hi there. I know this may be a stupid question as I know technically all performance modifications should be followed by a map. But what can you do without worrying about doing damage?

If it's a new age car and the ecu is mappable, your better off mapping it before anything else, you can gain 40-50bhp for the cost of the re-map.

My advice is to always get the car checked over on the dyno before and after any modifications. An honest mapper/dyno operator will tell you how it is running, whether things are dangerous and what action to take. Running the car prior to the modifications will also flag up any problems that may already exist on the car.

However, biggest improvement to a cars performance vs cost is definitely a remap, so bear that in mind.

this is good to know coz im slowly adding bits to mine before a remap. not driving it, just doing lots of reading up and taking my time with it.
