Esl ecu mappin
I'm looking at investing in an esl board in the next few weeks.
What's people's views and where is recommended to buy and map and prices Cheers |
Had my 97UK 2000 done by Duncan (racedynamics ) a few months back .well chuffed with the duel maps (hi/low boost) and running mafles(as the maffs seem to often fail on other scoobs )plus improved power (from 0.8 bar to 1.3 bar) as its relatively standard .haven't got any figures as it was cheaper to map it on the road . i think both Simon(jgm ) and Duncan charge about £550 supplied ,fitted and mapped on the road and will come to you

I have the 6s ecu which I have been told is in mapper able And untunable.
So esl is the only way??? Wht stats could I expect? Cheers |
It's about the cheapest option bud ,you could have a look for a second hand apexi ecu and controller (£350ish)but ,their not that easy to come by and don't run mafless .or a second hand 6's ecu with a esl board already installed (£180ish) .
As for power im not to sure what injectors you have if there 440's (yellow)then with zorst and panel somewhere around 320 .id get a few bits ready to go on (ie decat ,3 port boost solinoid, etc ) which could be mapped in at the same time . My brv's v1 sti is running 347/330 with decat, headers,440's blitz boost controller and a fpr ,but he's on his 2nd gearbox in 6 months :'( as the 5speeds don't like running to close to the 340 mark |
440 injectors
Open bell mouth decat Straight through 3 inch exhaust Induction kit Vf35 turbo Headers and up pipe All this on the car before I bought it Is anti lag and launch control on esl? |
Not to sure about the vf (as my brv's got a td05)but id have thought you'd have seen similar figures (340/330)but we did both upgrade to a exeedy pink box clutch as even my standard clutch started to slip during my remap (roughly 280 bhp).so if your aiming for 330+ your gonna be heading into the realms of unreliablity , if your drivetrain is standard .depends on how well your cars previous owners have serviced/treated it and a bit of luck imo fella as some people run more power than my brv and have done more mls and still on the original 5speed .As for antilag and launch i don't think there on the esl and to be quite honest iv only owned my 1st scooby just over a yr (although iv done a fair bit of research and are in the process of building a forged cdb ) you'd be better asking Duncan or Simon (pm dynamics or jgm on here ) as they know their onions ;-) hope this helps

ESL should have some motorsport features by the end of the year I believe.

If you are after pops and bangs then these can be done on the std ecu without the motorsport pack to a small degree :) |

I've been testing them with ESL and they work great. Big note of caution though these are proper motorsport features so make sure your transmission is up to it :thumb:

Whts the best way to ecu reset? Under dash connectors or battery off?
Cheers |
Best way to reset the ESL is to swap the maps. As long as "reset on map switch" is selected on.
Is what I use to rest anyway.. Means I can do it while sitting in the driver seat! |
How are u findin the esl?
I haven't got mine yet I just wanted to reset the ecu. Cheers fella |
Im very new at ESL and DIY tuning due to my location.
ESL is fantastic, Easy to install and the software is extremely user friendly. I read all I can on tuning and the bits I am unsure of ESL's customer service is beyond brilliant and has helped me with the million questions and tuning tips I needed!(Many thanks to Andy) As I am new to tuning I cant compare it to other ECU's but I couldn't imagine any others could offer more then the ESL. The closed loop idle and live monitoring of all the parameters fed into the ECU make it very easy to see how you are doing with the tune. Also with the stock style knock protection it gives me a bit of peace of mind watching the knock count or seeing the IAM still at 16! I couldn't recommend ESL enough. For my self I know it was the right choice. Hope that helps! |

Installed myself, And ESL supplied the cable to tune. The car is 85% tuned now and running mafless, I am taking it very slow to make sure I don't melt a piston in the process!
