Did 351 miles today - 70% motorway, 20% A roads and 10% 'spirited' driving!

I won't quote cruising speeds ;) But the total journey of actual driving (not taking a leak) was just over 60mph.

At the end the tank took just under 56litres of fuel - so there was just enough left to go a few more miles!!!!

Trout :D:D:D:D:D

PS And the car is tuned with big injectors, uprated pump and self-administered ECU - the JECS was never this good.
PPS Fuel was Optimax

Chip 10 May 2002 08:59 PM

A diesel Ford Fiesta!!!!

Chip.

Trout... 10 May 2002 08:59 PM

This was in my Sti V - which puts out 347bhp at PE! :D

PS On the same tank of fuel I would struggle to do 20 laps of Bedford ;)

You've missed the decimal point, let me correct it for you:

Did 35.1 miles today - 70% motorway, 20% A roads and 10% 'spirited' driving!

Will you not quote the cruising speed because it was 56mph ;)

Trout... 10 May 2002 10:28 PM

Nigel,

well simple maths tell me that 56mph wouldn't have produced a 60mph average driving speed.

Reality is that it is still only just over 28mpg - pathetic for most cars. My Merc used to do that same journey at 36mpg, my 330 BMW does it at 32mpg - so it aint that clever!

Trout :D

nigelward 10 May 2002 10:32 PM

Uh Uh sh1t, now I know why I failed A-level maths...

Um maybe the speedo was over reading :D.

Damn impressive though...

Nigel

Trout... 10 May 2002 10:51 PM

Well I think it overreads up to 6% with very worn tyres which I have - still impressive tho!

Trout :D

I have a little story to tell, surprise, surprise!! ;)

Once upon a time in the late 70's we had a colleague at work who would be such an anorak that he would write ALL his fuel costs/mileage/4 star or 3 star petrol/type of driving etc. in a little note book.

He would bore us completely every lunchtime in the staff canteen about what his mpg was over the last period he was studying - we were so cheesed off we hatched a cunning plan!!!

What we did was to put a gallon of fuel in his car at morning tea break!!! we did this for 2 weeks - he was wild with excitement - delirious about how his driving had brought benefits galore!!!

THEN, we started taking a gallon OUT of his tank every morning for another 2 weeks ........................ he was a picture of sadness, had the car in the garage complaining that something was wrong, he didnt want to talk about it anymore!!!

RESULT!!!!!!!!!!! and he never did again!! :D

So, Trout, dont be surprised if you only get 150 miles out of the next tank when the gremlins decide to reclaim thier fuel back!! ;)

Pete
