Having noticed how cheap LHD Porsche 911's (964) are :D

What are implications of buying a porker from Germany and getting it registered in Blighty?

I imagine there some tax issues along the way.

FYI I saw a 48000 mile, 911, m reg on auto trader - £24000 :D

No tax issue I believe as long as its within the EU. If its younger than 6 months then there is a possible VAT issue but only then. You'll need to get it Insured for bringing back(getting it shipped is only a few hundred quid) and MOT'd on Return then you just get it registered with UK plates. Second hand cars are much cheaper here, I sold my 91 Gti Sportline for over 5 grand in the UK and can get them here for 2-3 grand. If you need any help let me know.

Cheers

Up to you but IMHO it's a pain with the wheel on the wrong side. Some people quote paying car parks, I hated overtaking... Is it so much of a saving over a RHD?

depends

If you are a hard up skinflint (like me :) ) then saving over 5 grand is good but most people think it's not worth the hassle

I haven't found LHD to be a problem but I guess it's a personal thing.

Davy - I suggest you ring CHPublications on 01737 814311 and buy the March 2002 issue of "911 & Porsche World" (for about a fiver). This has a big article on buying from Germany and explains exactly what needs doing.
