How to fit a rear O2 sensor

I posted a question a few weeks about fitting the front O2 sensor to my '03 blob but after a bit of careful research (fortunately before I bought the wrong sensor) I have established that the OBD code relates to the rear (ie post cat) sensor.

Are these hard to fit? I am reasonably practical but over the last 20 years I have left things like this to my dealers. However, I'm getting fed up of the sometimes extortionate prices they charge me so I'll do it myself if it's not a difficult job.

They are easy to fit, the difficult bit is getting the old sensor out. Sometimes they come out first try, other times they take a bit of work.

You can give the old one a good spray of penetrant to try and free it off but make sure none gets onto the new sensor as it can damage them.

A good 22mm ring spanner is the way to go!
