Still undecided about selling up.After all the upgrades that have been done it would be a shame not to see it through to the end.

You even sound like Ryan - will I break it or won't I:wonder:

Get it finished, enjoy it at least once, and move on from there. I missed a whole summer with my respray and I lose months at a time with my tinkering, but there's no way I'll ever recoup my money or time so I'm just going to enjoy it:thumb:

Builds take a while mate and problems always come up, you can't expect to rush it if you want it done right :-)

BLU 03 March 2014 05:30 PM

Just get it finished..... no other option imo :D

Dave Y 03 March 2014 09:26 PM

You boys could be right.
I will pick my toys up and carry on.

IainMilford 03 March 2014 09:30 PM

It does get frustrating at times mate, just when you make plans and think you're gonna get your car back some little thing pops up that puts the project back!!

Chin up fella :)

Now that i have decided to see this through i have spoken to Mark at TDR and Paul Finch at Finch motorsport to discuss options and prices.
I am also contemplating having the 6 speed gearbox overhauled before it is fitted. I think API would favourite for gearbox job.
My budget is very tight at the moment,my job is looking very iffy .So i might have to do this in stages.I had to knock my original engine plans on the head. Apologies to anyone who i may have pi55ed off with this decision but i had to be sensible the way things are looking at work.
Anyway i will keep plodding on with my project.

Dave Y 13 March 2014 04:15 PM

Bit of a scare on the M50 last night the car hesitated on acceleration then a couple of miles later the CEL came on and the engine was missing badly.Had a look this morning a coilpack had come off.Took the airbox off to get at the coilpack and noticed the one next to it was loose aswell, very strange.Anyway both are tight again now.

JonMc 13 March 2014 07:00 PM

I've had that when a coil pack connector came loose on mine after a service and it ran like a pig - the simple things are set to try us:eek:

Dave Y 13 March 2014 07:03 PM

Could have been a lot worse.all sorted now.

Dave Y 26 March 2014 11:11 PM

I think i will get the 6 speed gearbox fitted, make sure that is working ok then go from there.

Well worth it, both from a strength and drivability point of view :thumb:

Cannon Fodder 27 March 2014 10:50 AM

What is happening with your car now Dave, are you still going ahead on the engine rebuild?

Dave Y 27 March 2014 12:45 PM

I am still going to have the engine rebuilt but i am waiting to see what happens at work, its gone very quiet.
I will get the box fitted and see if its working ok then look at my options for the engine build.

Dave Y 28 March 2014 05:43 PM

The ball is rolling again, some bits are off to be sandblasted then painted.

Dave Y 05 April 2014 06:22 PM

Dropping the car off with Ryan next week to get 6 speed fitted + mot.
Then i will be cleaning and polishing for Japfest.
I must have had a funny turn the other week when i was considering selling,i was looking around the car earlier admiring Ryan's workmanship, the paintwork still looks amazing and decided i will see this project through to completion.

JonMc 05 April 2014 07:21 PM

I know that feeling mate, I'm toying with sending the car back to Ryan to do some plating and smoothing under the bonnet after I fit the VF34 plus extras and get it all mapped, the comes the boot:eek: - will it never end:wonder:

The thing that keeps me going is knowing I won't recoup the money or time I have put into the car so I may as well keep on enjoying it:thumb:

Dave Y 05 April 2014 08:27 PM

Luckily i never kept a record of what i have spent.
One of the best things i had done was getting Ryan [or was it Keith] to spray the underside of the bonnet and the front panel in 02C Blue

JonMc 05 April 2014 08:35 PM

I'm thinking engine out, powder coating sub-frames and painting drive shafts etc:D

I've got a bag of receipts but I never add it up:norty:

Dave Y 05 April 2014 08:37 PM

That sounds a bit serious to me Jon

JonMc 05 April 2014 08:43 PM

Looking at Ryan's project and then mine I see how poor mine looks and hatch plans for the next stage - stroker and a PPG box next I think:cool:

Cannon Fodder 05 April 2014 09:21 PM

Nice to see you back on plan Dave. :thumb:

Dave Y 11 April 2014 05:15 AM

Taking my car over to Ryan this weekend to have the gearbox fitted and a couple of other little jobs.

Dave Y 19 April 2014 04:11 AM

i took my car over to Ryan yesteday,a week later than i was planning due to some delays with the sandblasting. The exhaust started to blow on the way over so thats another job for Ryan to sort.

Dave Y 23 April 2014 09:25 PM

Rear hubs don't fit.I need a pair of R180 hubs.

Dave Y 24 April 2014 06:43 PM

I have managed to source a pair from Matt @ MB Developments.
Hopefully no more delays.

Dave Y 03 May 2014 12:55 AM

Spoke to Ryan earlier the gearbox is in but he had a slight problem with the rear hubs.
He had to fit a couple of helicoils to refit the rear brake calipers. The first test drive with the 6 speed is any day now, fingers are firmly crossed

Dave Y 07 May 2014 09:26 PM

MOT passed today.
Ryan tried the 6 speed box and said everything seems ok.
I pick it up tomorrow,a bit of spit and polish then it will be ready for Japfest.

Dave Y 09 May 2014 09:10 AM

picked the car up yesterday, two miles from home the clutch went.
I was not happy the clutch has only done 5,500 miles give or take a couple.
The problem is it was fitted sept 2012
So i got up early and took it back to Ryan. Whilst its there he is going to fit two bearings
to the recent R180 hubs i bought they are too noisy for my liking
When he fitted the 6 speed he also fitted the gearchange bush kit from ASP,it made the gearchange really tight an excellant upgrade.
No Japfest for me.
