Rusty brakes after 1 day?

My mate said it sounds about right, but after 1 day?
The brakes squeal in a very high pitch volume when braking at stopping point, not slowing down, but stopping.
So yeah, I get the whole neighbourhood coming out to look.

However it's very rusty after 1 day of not driving, It's on my drive for the last 3days now, so it may get worse, but is it supposed to look like this?

Yes it is normal and will clean up as soon as you apply the brakes

Absolutely normal

Are these new brakes?

What pads, what discs?

Are the anti-rattle springs in place?

Did you put a smear of copper-slip on the rear of the pads?

Did you ensure that the hubs/discs mating surfaces were PERFECTLY clean?

And yes, they rust like that almost within a few hours. Iron is quite a reactive metal, you know.....

You're not driving it enough. As long as you don't stop for more than a couple of hours at a time, it will never happen again.

Iron rusts very quickly but one application of the brakes and they'll be shiny again.

Totally normal i get that on mine when not been driven for a while a day :thumb:

I guess this is normal then :p
I'm just not used to it as my previous WRX don't seem to be that bad, however it was my daily driver.
Any idea how to sort out an extremely high pitch squealing noise when stopping?

You've got wheels that allow the rain to get through! (same as mine!)

Go for a drive, find a nice clear place and STAMP on those brakes, that will stop most if not all of the squealing.
Mine do exactly the same, driving round town in traffic, just dabbing them causes squeaking and squealing a little harder on the pedal and they're fine ;-)

I use a fitted car cover for winter time, which cover most of the wheels up. Does help keep em rust free for longer :-)
