In Portsmouth I was offered a new r320 for 28k last year but now the yen is crazy competed to the pound they have gone up to 32k
|
That's got to be a bargain of the decade
In 2000 my turbo classic was £22700 and a new P1 was a whopping £32k+ I got a keyring as a discount . That's what has killedte sale of the STi once you creep over the 30k price point and a £450 tax people have to think about the price and at nearly 33k on the road before you get any extras its getting To be an expensive motor That pricing move will save Subaru in the uk 27k for a new STi and a BRZ at 25-27k for a different market should help sales Just need a wrx with wide body STi style like over the pond to retail at 20k with three years interest free credit would get the market moving again |

Jeez LOL! Let he who is without sin and all that ;)
The trouble with the majority of classic owners is that they view their vehicle through rose tinted glasses, the world has moved on since the 1990's. ;) |

Well the 'classic' models aren't exactly asthetically pleasing are they? :wonder:

The classic while no beauty queen is still the iconic Impreza as much as that sticks in the craw of most of you these days :thumb: |

Exactly my point, no Impreza has ever been a work of art so to start calling other marques on looks is a bit of an own goal.

I then look at the newage cars and for me I prefer them to the classic models, I have owned bugeye (S202), Hawkeye (UK 2.5 WRX) and Blobeye (Spec C) models and like them all equally. As for the models after the newage I like them as well, admittedly the hatch took a while to grow upon me but they are aimed at a different market than the original Impreza was. Time and tide wait for no man. :) |
What's killed Subaru is the lack of engine tech investment being a niche market and having no "Halo" car's to back up the image. You can get a full fat Merc, BM or VW with lower emissions with similar performance. The French have front drive hatches that can easily stay with and match a "sorted" Subaru in the twisty stuff, as Ty know's.
They seriously need DI and a better Forced Induction system, the Electronic Engine Managment software needs to be employed to assist with the issues. Perhaps Toyota's investment will help, but they have the neck to put "Toyota" on the flat 4 engine in the BRZ :cuckoo:. Have a look here at some of the upper end sports cars and their CO2 emissions vs performance vs an STi. There are some examples that make Subaru look like a very bad buy. http://www.carpages.co.uk/ |
